Plastic Surgery

TxBecky,

i was going to volunteer, but i didnt want to sound all creepy ... :biggrin2:

you can give me a call and i'll post here...

C

Jody, you are such a dear to be following us so closely. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your thoughtfulness. My surgery is at 7:00 on the 12th. Last week when I was seeing my ps I also took a tour of the "guest suites" as they call them, where I will be for two nights. I confirmed that they do have wireless internet so I hope to be posting that evening or at least by the next day. I'm with Frangi on this; the sooner I can get up and move around the better. If I'm just not up to posting, I'll get my sister to report in.

Tomorrow is my upper GI, which I'm convinced is going to be completely normal. All of my symptoms have subsided and I've been feeling great again. I'll report on that tomorrow afternoon.

I really can't believe our surgeries are in just a couple of weeks. This month has flown by. Yes Frangi, it is a good thing you aren't superstitious. I hadn't even thought about you being scheduled on Friday the 13th. It just makes your story that much more interesting!

Frangi, have you told all of your friends and family about your upcoming surgery? I don't mind anyone knowing that I'm having PS, I just don't want to worry people needlessly. I haven't told my parents or my children. My sister thinks I should tell them. What do you all think?

LJM, thanks to you also for following along with us. If I end up having trouble with the hospital's internet, would it be ok if I call you and get you to post for me?

Becky,

I really haven't told very many people and have no plans to.

That said, if I had children, I would tell them. I can imagine adult children being upset about not being informed when a parent is having surgery. I think they would definitely want to know.

As for your parents, I vote no. Older people tend to get stressed out easily under the best of circumstances, and it's very likely that this would cause a lot of anxiety for them -- also, most folks in that older generation don't understand plastic surgery, as it just wasn't part of the culture back then.

Just my two cents for what it's worth.

Becky,

I agree with Frangi on telling your children. They may worry but I think they would be hurt if you didn't tell them. I would be leary of telling your parents. They will worry more! They may want to come and see you and you really do not need the company at the moment.

I also vote YES to your kids but NO to your parents.

I'm so excited for you guys! Doesn't it feel like just yesterday we were all getting excited to be BANDED?

I'm also green with envy.

Hey Candle,

Thanks for the well wishes !

You'll be the lucky one with all of this because it sounds like if you wait just a little longer, insurance will kick in for at least part of this, which makes me totally green with envy :scared2:!

I had my upper GI today and it was NORMAL!!! I am now officially 100% cleared for my PS.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts on telling the family. Since it is unanimous that I should tell my kids, consider it done. My sister will be so happy.

Thanks LJM. You'll be my official poster until I'm up to it!

I only weigh 220 and I only want to lose about 80 lbs. Is there anyone out there that didnt have sagging skin with that amount of weight loss. Surgery is on Friday. I dont really want to have plastic surgery unless it is discusting. Please anyone let me know what you think.

I think it is possible that you will not need plastic surgery. So much depends on your age, history of gaining and losing, how long you've been obese, etc. Everyone is different. I've seen posts from others who have gotten to goal and been satisfied with their bodies. I also must add, do not let fear of sagging skin interfere with your weight loss efforts. You will be thrilled when you get to goal regardless of your skin issues. Good luck with your journey. Becky

Ok--I've been gone a while and have been reading this thread ENTHRALLED!!!

I'm SO excited that so many of our CRAZY ATES have reached goal and are already having PS!!! (I'm also insanely jealous, but know I'll be there SOMEday!)

But where are the updates about Frangi and TexasBecky's surgery? I feel like I read a book and the last chapter was ripped out!

Nana, its so good to hear from you. Congrats on your continued weight loss success. You are doing great.

There is another "book" documenting mine and Frangi's surgery and post op recovery, with pictures no less, at the link below. Also on the main plastic surgery page you will find a whole thread dedicated to Salsa's surgery. We are all doing great! Please check in more often. We love to know how our fellow Crazy Ates are doing.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
