March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Recommended Posts

Hi Shamrocks!

I haven't been around lately, but for a change is it not about my bad behavior! I had computer issues and was offline for about 10 days. I had no idea how much I enjoyed the computer!

When I was last here I was going to get a fill. When I arrived at the doctor's office, I had gained some weight. While my doc thought I had good restriction he agreed to give me a fill. He gave me 1.25 cc's or thereabout. Well, I almost went back in to get a little bit of an unfill. I toughed out the liquids for 2 days and mushies for 2 days. I feel like I have a decent restriction. I actually had a slime event. I don't want to do that again, it was an education.

I am thrilled with my restriction because now the band does stop me from eating more. Yep, I do realize that I can eat ice cream, but I work with this. I lost the weight I gained and am now at 40 pounds lost. For me it seems like it has been a tough battle.

It is possible that my band is too tight. I do have to supplement at least 5 out of 7 days a week to get in my Protein. Now, getting in my Protein and Water are not as easy as it was. But, I have zero intention of getting an unfill until at least January 1. Currently, I have little desire to eat the holiday junk. I did actually have a sliver of pumpkin pie, but I can tell you that over a few days last year, I ate a whole pie. Progress!

I am considering coming out of the "band closet" to a friend or two. Right now, only a few folks know. Most of them have been banded themselves.

I am thrilled with the successes I am reading about. Good for everyone who is back on track. I totally agree that this is a life changing event. The band cannot fix our emotional or social eating issues. Not a bad idea to talk to someone about this stuff. I actually use a nurse and my nutrionist. I have a friend who was banded in August. Talking to her makes me realize exactly how far down the road I actually am. I think we have all fought through some issues. Me, I realize that my relationship with food is changing in a good way. It is still my first thing to go to, but now, it is really tough to gobble down anything! I actually have to intentionally sabotage myself. While I am capable of sabotage, it is something I am sort of getting a handle on.

Well, obviously I need to be here more, because I am writing a book. I really did miss the posts and support!

Hey, all. Good to hear everything's going well.

I'm off in a few hours - just had a weigh in. No loss, but no gain either, and my clothes are a lot looser. So I'm alright with that.

I stocked up on Isopure powder, and Protein powder and all that, so I'm ready for whatever they throw at me. I wish I had a scales over there, but I'll just have to try to keep it real by myself.

OK! I'll check in when I can!

Have a lovely holiday season!

I've been a bad, bad girl.

I don't even want to think about how many calories I've consumed these past three days. It rivaled pre-band amounts.

NOT GOOD.

TESS - congrats on the NSV, new scrubs for work and a few sized smaller..

I know we all probably had our OOPS moments over this past weekend, but I agree Today is a new day..!! I have not been on the scale since last tuesday and am dreading it this morning, but have to do it for my own mental check in. Hope I at least remain the same with no gain!! I'll know soon.

Tess-I don't know about you, but I hate spending money on scrubs! I need to make the trip and get some new scrubs, but I was waiting til after the new year.

Turkey day way a three day celebration in our family. I do have to say that I was much better than I thought I would be. I ate a little bit of everthing I wanted (minus the rolls) and even enjoyed some pie! I made sure I really wanted what I was picking to eat, but once the decision was made, i enjoyed every last bite!

Today is Tuesday and my scale day, and I am down .8 lbs...needless to say I am a happy girl!

Hope everyone is feeling better and we all can get back on track this week!

An amazing thing happened here yesterday.....

I threw away half of a pumpkin pie!

Yep, apparently the half of pie I usually eat after the holiday....my family had had their fill and was just done with pumpkin pie for a while.....so out it went!

I can honestly say, I've never done that before!!!!!

Got on the scqale this morning and I gained!! No one to blame but myself. Only 2#, but it is 2#. Having my grandson around all the time gives opportunity to snack here and there and I know I shouldn't. :cursing: Just an excuse!!. But have to and I WILL get back in line today.

I have not kept my food lurnal for about a month and need to get back to that too, I know that will be a big help for me.

Hey, Sugar and Hope -- how are you guys feeling? Have things eased, or is it still pretty harsh?

Amanda and Lynn - don't do what I did! Stop yourselves! Turn that horse and buggy around! Find a half a pumpkin pie and throw it out!

I'm in Paris, where I have just consumed half of a delicious French dish they call "Le Filet o'Fish, avec sa sauce Tartare". Yes, I am in McDonald's, where I'm enduring wilding children and mediocre food (but better than in the US McDonald's) as the price of my free internet access. It's been a rough couple of days, running around trying to get everything set up in my apartment, buying appliances and trying to get my internet and phone service organized. They love their paperwork, these Frenchies!

I've not been over-eating - my appetite always sags for a while when I cross time zones. But what I've been eating hasn't been particularly tasty. Plus I spilled tartare sauce on my beautiful scarf!

Oh, gosh, I hope tomorrow's better...

And Lynn! Amanda! Behave! Don't make me come up there!

Hi Everyone, I know what you mean about throwing out leftovers. I threw all of my leftover holiday food, except for the turkey breast. I knew that I did not want to be tempted and my husband did not want it, so out it went with the weekly trash. I think for the first time I was happy about throwing it all out instead of feeling guilty for the starving people in Africa. :cursing: Go team for throwing out the left over food. :scared2:

Sounds like we have had some positive results these last few days. I ate a few Cookies (my biggest weakness) and several slivers of pie (once a day) last week. Today was my weigh day. I almost didn't get on the scale but thought, I have to face the music. Well wasn't I surprised when I lost 2 pounds this last week. I have been hitting the gym 5 to 6 days a week and it's paying off. I am so happy.

I hit ONDERLAND today!!! :cursing:

I also got that much needed unfill. The doctor took out a 1/2cc. Boy, do I feel better already. I have lost 11 pounds in the last 3 weeks because I was so tight. Before the fill I was on a 7 week plateau. I am glad the scales are moving, but I do not want to be that tight again.

The nutritionist said that when I lose 15 more pounds I will no longer be obese. That sounds wonderful.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
