Hello,

I'm getting excited, and nervous at the same time. MY dh and I have to travel about 2 hours so we are going down the night before. My awesome Doctor K says I will be the first or second surgery of the day. Woo Hoo

It will be nice to have alot of someones to go side by side on this journey!:tongue2:

I am also scheduled for the 25th. I went today and did all the usual pre-op things, blood work, EKG, chest xray and urine sample ( why? ). Only problem I ran into was not having a copy of my cardiac clearance. Not a real issue as my Bariatric Nurse Coordinator called and had it faxed to the Hospital. She is a God send!

Hi all,

I am scheduled for the 25th as well. Just had my preop visit with the surgeon today. I will likely be the second on for monday. I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous, but I know it will all be good. He said I would probably be home early to mid afternoon. WOW!!!! Good luck to you all!!!!

I find this interesting... I did all my pre-op tests over 2 weeks ago. Seems like most of you guys get tests done just days before the surgery. That sounds wise, since things could change in 2 weeks. Anyone else get finished with their tests that early?

I found out today that I'm the first surgery of the day! I' have to be there at 5:00 am and my surgery should start no later than 7:15 am.

I'm on the high Protein diet until the day before and I am on clear liquids; broth, sf jello-no red or orange, tea, cofee, and crystal light.

I, too, am a February 25th'er. Arrive at the hospital at 7:00, surgery at 9:00. This morning I started my two days of liquids. I've been on a high Protein diet since 2/5, when I had my surgeon eval. I haven't decided if I am staying overnight or not. While my hospital requires this be inpatient for coding purposes, I am self-pay, so my doc said, since they already have my money, I could go home that night, if I am doing ok. My family wants me to stay; I want the complete night of sleep I would get at home. Wait and see how I feel, I guess. Great luck, everyone!!

Hello everyone:

I am scheduled to be banded tomorrow. I am scheduled to be at the hospital at 6:00am and the surgery will be at 7:30am.

The inner chicken in me is is trembling like a leaf.

I hope that the 2/25s keep in touch so we can support one another. We will all be going through the same stages at the same time.

Best wishes to everyone.

My surgery center called and to be there at 7:30..I am not nervous yet...the whole tube thing is freaking me out, why don't they take it out before you wake up?

That is one question I will be sure to ask!

Good luck all, I will post as soon as I am up to it!

Tammy

I just wanted to stop by and say God Bless and good luck to all the new banders coming up this week! May you all have a smooth surgery and speedy recovery! (I'm still just getting used to the idea that I actually have a lap-band inside of me, lol!)

Tammy, I think they do try and remove the breathing tube before you are fully awake. My nurse anesthetist told me they would be doing this for my surgery. I must have woke up fast after my surgery, and I felt the tube, but it was really very short. I know when I had my gall bladder surgery, I didn't experience the breathing tube at all. Please do communicate your concerns with your anesthesiologist or nurse anesthetist (I've found the nurse anesthetists to be a bit more sympathetic and understanding) . . . and I'm sure they will do their best to try and make you comfortable during that stage. That's one thing I did during my surgery stay . . . if I was nervous about anything (for me I worried about pain and nausea the most) I made sure to tell everyone that would listen, lol. And after my surgery I really didn't have either. Keep up the communication! I hope it all goes well for you and everyone this week. I'll be looking for all these Feb 25th surgery updates!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
