Dr. Aaron Hoffman - Lap Band done in Buffalo, NY (Dr. Hoffman)

Recommended Posts

i didnt have any pain, just a hard btime eating anything and throwing up alot. i had a ugi, had to go on liquids for 2 weeks cuz sometimes that is all you need to release it. then i had a repeat ugi, no improvement so off to surgery

well LLL and val, that makes 3 of us who have prolapsed in a little over 2 yrs, so i wonder what the stats really are, I am having some discomfort here and there, and my nightmare is another prolapse and emergency surgery :). My prolapse was severe according to dr H. and acute. i could not even drink Water or saliva, nausea, throwing up blood dehydration. etc.... everyone is different, although he said it was acute, i wonder how long i may have been prolapsed. I do not feel too tight now, can eat most things on most days. sometimes i have a problem early in the day or on some meat...but the pain comes and goes in my upper stomach, and it is not after eating...?????

What is UGI?

UGI = Upper Gastrointestinal (pertains to the esophagus, stomach and the first part of the intestine) If they're doing a UGI series ..means you have to do a barium swallow test so they can see how the Fluid is going down the esophagus, and past the band and first part of the intestine.

Hey Guys,

Yeah the symptoms I'm having now is at times I get this little twinkle of pain at the band site (upper) it's not when I eat or drink just all the time. I'm eating food and it does goes through but I'm eating light and softer foods. No gain but I fear that yet I know healing right now is the best thought process at this time.

I guess everyone is different and and a good fill for one is an over fill for another. I know I could eat less yet I was eating a varity of foods yet at about three days before my unfill I noticed food just didn't settle right I dropped some solid Proteins and just thought I had a tight band and it would settle - I could drink fine, eat softer foods so being to tight never entered my mind.

I belive I caught it just in the nic of time when it first started - So I'll just heal it up and start over again...... So fingers crossed at this point.

LLL,

i was always too tight. id get a fill and id be okay for a few weeks then id be too tight, id go in for an unfill then a few weeks later they woul fill me again and the cycle would start over. my band never had more than 5cc in it, i believe. i really only had 2 fills but it was never right.

Yes val, the same here, i was either too tight or too loose, it was never good and the most I had was 5.5cc. I pray that it is ok now, i thing im still nervouse over the last prolapse and everytime i have a twinge or get stuck or goes down too easy i wonder if its ok. i see hoff this week so i'll talk to him and see what he thinks...

Hi, Just new here, and was looking for some info as my band will be fine for weeks, and then it will slowly become too tight until I can't get anything down... so I get an unfill and then am too loose so get a fill and all will be good until the same thing happens again. Can you let me know what happened with you?

many thanks

Dying to go swmming. I saw some waterproof bandaids in the drug store but too small I think.

I have scabs on the wounds now. It's been two weeks. I guess I can wait another week... the weather will probably turn then.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
