I know what you so mean... In 2004/2005 I lost 167 pounds on Weight Watchers I owned every pound I lost...... I felt good and I did it by eating good and doing my treadmill everyday.... But the keeping it off was the real bite in the Azz........ I still had the large tummy inside and if I wanted I could eat large amounts of food...... That's just what I went back to doing.... eating by the bag full of chips, Cookies, and other foods. Once I started I couldn't stop myself.... Now I have my ring of hope the band...... I know if I need it in the future I can get a fill... Right now I'm empty (no fill) and doing this with my will power and the bands reg tightness.... Some people don't have restriction 7-8 weeks post-op like I feel I do have so I feel lucky... Once some of the fat around my belly goes away then this may change...... Now I have the oppertunity to learn and teach myself what makes the best fuel for my body and what works. Once I get down to my last bit of weight I'll have what it takes to get there finally and forever be free of this weight.........

I would love to meet up at any meeting/other oppertunity to get together and help answer question, show my port etc.......

I might become part of the Lap Band support here at my hospital once they get the program started.... I was asked to speak to some of the doctor's who will be sending patients to Dr. Hoffman so they can understand the patients view on the surgery.

I was just wondering, I thought the lap band could stay in place forever(if no complications), but I read some where today that it can only stay in place 10 years. Is this true. Actually this has no barring on me getting it done, but its nice to know

I am also a patient at Buffalo Generals weight loss clinic ,I was banded on November 19.So far all is well with my progress. They require a South Beach diet regiment before surgery. I lost 27 pounds on that even before the surgery, then lost 13 in the few weeks following the surgery ,now I have just had my second fill and beginning to see some more weight loss. My doctor is Forbes.

No way... I was told by Dr. Hoffman this is forever....... The newer lap bands have come far beyond the older bands per say and we should be able to keep them forever so we can keep this fat off forever and ever.

Did you have a good weekend??? How do like this coooooold snap???

Oh heavens to Betsy it is cold!!!! I about froze my size 26 booty off yesterday taking my dogs outside.

Okay, South Beach diet - I actually did that plan for a long time and lost a ton of weight. Course, then my (now) ex cheated on me and I started eating everything that wasn't nailed to the floor.....

Hi Everyone,

It's me luckyclover4u(Kat for short] lol. I have a few questions. First i have a hital hernia will i be able to get the band??? Second if i need to lose only 70 to 80 lbs will they do it still???? Last but not least does BCBS of WNY cover it??? I really found hope reading all your messages. I know that 70 to 80 lbs don't seem like alot to some but it seems a live time to me, i have some health problems because of my weight. Ive had two back surgerys one major. My weight is not helping that out either. I told my parents about it and my mother flew off the handle. She said i guess some people just like to have surgeries. Yes i have had a few surgeries, but not because i wanted them. Iam 5'3 and just want to be healthy. I don't think i'll get support from my parents. My husband is behind me though. Iam the heaviest one in my family. Well thanks for listening. Congrads to all who have lost weight. Have a great Christmas and a healthy happy New Year. Kat

I don't know much about hernias... but it seems from the posts on this site that many have had them fixed at the same time as this surgery. So I don't think it will be an issue.

BCBS of WNY approved me first try. But I have an Erie, PA doctor who made me do the 6 months surpervised diet prior to submitting. I don't know if this is part of what made them approve so quickly or not???? I also only had 80lbs to lose, so that won't be an issue either.

I say, go ahead and get your ball rolling. you sound like a good candidate to me!!!!

Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
