I keep getting lost on this site - but I"m back - at least for tonight - maybe if I bookmark this specific page, I'll find my way back more easily. I tried the pic but couldn't get it on so I will wait and struggle more another day. People keep asking me if I'm scared yet. Strangely, I am not. At least not yet. Resolute. Has anyone had lapband with Dr. Posner in Buffalo General? margie

If you go up to the "Thread Tools" on the toolbar you can choose "Subscribe to this Thread" and you have an option of getting emails when there's a new post. Also, after that, you can go to "Quick Links" up above and scroll down to Subscribed Threads & click on that & you should get a list of the threads you have subscribed to. Hope that helps.

I have some family members who are nurses in Buffalo. I'll ask if anyone knows of Dr. Posner.

Thanks, Phyl. I knew, when I was planning to have bypass, that he was the doc I wanted. But he convinced me that lapband would be better for me for a number of reasons - now I would just like to hear from some people who have had him do their lapbands that I have chosen wisely. Nurses who have observed the surgeries and patients would certainly know too. I found him to be very professional - my support persons and I all liked him real well...just looking for a little reassurance...

Margie, check out the main page of LBTalk - there are threads available from each state. You might try NY and see if anyone there has worked with or had surgery done by your surgeon.

Best of luck to you.

Well, it's Thursday morning. I had my final clinic appointment on Monday - there were a few glitches but I think they will all be resolved. I'm on Dr.s ordered South Beach (as I have been for four months!!) for this week. Next MOnday Breakfast will be my last meal as an unbanded person!!! I'm amazingly calm. I suppose I'll get scared eventually but I am thinking of this more like the anticipation of Christmas of a fun trip than surgical apprehension. Does that make sense? We'll go up to Buffalo on Monday and stay over since I am 1 1/2 hours away and I have to be at Buf Gen by 7:00 AM. I've really enjoyed reading all of your posts and they have helped me SO much to get a good idea of what I am facing. Thanks to everyone.

margiemma. The best wishes for your surgery on the 16th and the start of a wonderful journey of eating small, healthy and being wise in your choices. As your newself emerges, you will know why you aren't scared. Anything is better than carrying around huge amounts of weight. We all know what that gets us.

Hi Everyone Just a quick to update you on my progress. I went for my surgeon's appointment yesterday, and to date I have lost 77 pounds. It almost feels like a miracle to me. I have given away all my old clothes, because I never intend to wear that size again. I still have a lot to lose. but I really feel like I can do this with the band, and support from all of you. I hope everyone else in experiencing this same success. I have been having a little pain at the site of one of my hernia repairs, but they thought it was healing pain. Well I am off to work.

Hi Everyone,

I got home from the hospital late last night. Had the banding on tuesday morning and spent yesterday having barium swallow test and walking the halls and waiting to be released. How long is it going to hurt? I have not had a lot of pain, but it does make me go "oh, ouch" when I try to lie down especially.

Can anyone in the Seattle/Everett area give me the name of stores that specializes in plus sized as large as 4X or 5X. I am looking for a winter coat for my sister and live in British Columbia but can travel to the USA.

Wow Karen. 77 pounds is amazing! congrats. I am looking forward to getting rid of all those fat clothes in my closet too!! A question: I was told to drink only Clear Liquids until I see the surgeon next Thursday. They want me to drink one ounce every 15 minutes - four ounces each hour. I HATE bothering with those little ounce cups and just take sips from a glass or bottle. Have no trouble, no pain. My barium swallow showed everything going down just fine. Is it possible for me to somehow damage the pouch by drinking a little faster than 1 ounce/15 minutes? I know my brother had bypass three years ago and he just sipped continuously.... what do you think? Are they just being overly cautious or am I foolhardy?? Thanks for your advice.

Good Morining Everyone... I just want to let everyone know so that you are not mislead that I lost 45 pounds on a low carb diet prior to my lapband surgery, and lost 32 pounds since my surgery date of August 4, 2008 and am still on the low carb diet. Thanks for your well wishes.

Hi, Carolyn! Welcome!

We're not ALL ladies here.. for one, we have Don, who has been waiting a LONG time and is about to get his surgery date. This is a great place for support, encouragement and sharing of things only those of us who have been there/done that can tell you. And we are all more than happy to share our experiences and whatever knowledge we have gained from the various sources available to us. We are a unique group.. the 60+ folks! We're in our "sunset years" and quality of life means a lot more to us than the younger ones! Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you might have and we'll do our best to answer!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
