JoannMarie & others looking for Wii.............

Walmart has the Wii console on their website for $249.24 + shipping. (You cannot ship to store for free.)

They also allow you to check to see if any local stores have them (at the same price, of course).

I looked late last night and was going to order one, but checked and found that a store about 7 miles from me had them. I called the store this AM and they had one left, so I went over and got it. They also had the WiiFit for $89.74, which I thought was a good price, so I got it also. :Dancing_biggrin:

Now to figure out how to hook the durn thing up! Hey, kids!!!!

what is the difference between the Wi Console and the Wii Fit

Have to have to console to play any of the games. The Wii Fit is an accessory, as the other games are. The console comes with one CD, Wii Sports, and that is fun, too. But the Wii Fit is the balance board that weighs you and tells you waht your BMI is, tracks your exercise, and has yoga, balance exercises, strengthening exercises, etc.

I've been Realized!!!!!

I had my surgery Monday, came home on Tuesday, and I feel absolutely wonderful! Moving a little slower, but I'm not having any problems....well, except for hicups! The only pain I've experienced has been in my neck, but I attributed that to the bricks the hospital called "pillows". I used the PCA several times for neck pain.

My doctor said Clear Liquids only for this week...no Protein Drinks. He says I don't need them. I didn't tell him about the bunch of powders I've collected in preparation for this!!!

I am SO glad to have the surgery behind me! I was really anxious that my "advanced" age would make the process more difficult, but I'm really pleased with my outcome.

I hope everyone else is doing as well as I am!

Hi Lynn - I am really glad to hear from you. My date is Dec 4, and our ages are within a year of each other. My surgeon is recommending the Realize band for me. Reason given - she is finding her patients over 65 have been doing better with the Realize. I have been trying to research both of the bands, but the websites (of course) each promote their own band. I tried ObesityHelp (their research found them about equal) and the new forums here for information, recommendations, etc., but on the LBTalk forums it seems there is a person who is so adamant about his/her position - which is against Realize - he/she made everybody mad and the conversation deteriorated to no help at all. I hate it when that happens. It is hard for me to understand why some people have to resort to "hate" tactics to prove their point. It only proves they are mean-spirited to me, and makes their point useless. I believe either band is good, follow the rules, be successful. If you have any insights or questions I should be asking, please let me know.

Was your surgery covered by Medicare? Pls let me know how that went. I have not heard of issues, but I'm pretty detail-oriented and want to be sure I have crossed the T's and dotted the I's.

Thanks for the help!

Lynn, Pati, JoannMarie, Phyllser,

I have enjoyed this website for over 2 years but have never found where I belong until now. I am interested in everything you guys discuss, i.e., Wii Fit and comparison to other Wii options, Realize vs other bands, concern about our age and the band and our success or lack of, anyway, just to say I find you guys to be informed, open minded, kind and I am so glad I found you all before my surgery. Just want you to know that I appreciate the effort you put into this site.

Pati - thank you for the encouragement, I need it.

Glad to hear someone else having the Realize Band. That's what I'm getting and That's what my Doc said also about some people doing a little better on the Realize Band. Not sure why yet.

Only 5 days to go and I'm on the Pre-op Diet and already have lost 10 lbs. Realy suprised me. The Clear liquid diet well be the hardest for me, as far as I know. Have to be on it one day before & four days after, than go to Full liquids.

Not much more to report, just hanging there.

Don

Sorry to take so long in responding! I spent most of yesterday napping! I got a little over-confident and may have pushed myself a little too hard on day 2 !!! I was so happy to have it over with! Okay, new day today. I fell rested and refreshed.

No, I didn't use Medi-Care. I'm covered by Anthem Blue Cross, and they are wonderful! They really want me to succeed at this, and have assigned a case worker to me for support! She's had a band placed 18 months ago, and she's been very supportive.

I'm rather excited about having the Realize band. They have a web site support program where you can set up your personal account, enter your personal information, and monitor it daily...food diary, exercise diary, personal diary, fills, etc, etc, etc. It's very comprehensive and helpful. Your access account number is associated with the very band that you received. The doctor gave me that number on release from the hospital. The doctor can also access the site, if you wish.

There are three doctors in my Medical Group...each has done over 50 Realize placements, according to the web site. (WOW! Considering bands are still nowhere near as popular as gastric bypass!) The Medical group chooses the Realize Band simply beacuse they're happier with the long-term results, as their studies show fewer problems and better results 4 years out.

Have a great day, everyone!

I have Medicare/Tricare For Life (ret. military dependent) and I had an interesting experience. When I got my EOB for the surgery, I saw that Medicare denied the hospital portion of the bill. Then I remembered reading somewhere (here probably) that Medicare required an overnight stay and I went home the same day. So I called Medicare to see if that was the problem. It took a couple of days for a call back, but the person I talked to was very nice and in looking up my account, said that the hospital had coded their bill incorrectly and that I should call them and tell them to resubmit it with the correct code and it would be paid. So I did that, but the person I talked to at the hospital told me that my balance was $0. I told him what Medicare instructed me to tell him and he said it didn't matter because the hospital had already written it off! go figure! Forgive me if I already told this story, but, a word to the wise... make sure you check to see if you are required to have an overnight stay or not.

Hi Guys, Haven't been on for a while - got too involved with Facebook. Just read the last few pages to catch up.

So glad to hear that Don has a surgery date and the rest of you are making progress.

Five months post-op, I have now lost 50 lbs (a milestone). I don't know how much the band has to do with it, but my counting and controlling calories seems to help. I can still eat a large quantity of healthy food at a time. I just must be careful to chew and not eat too fast. And, especially, choose the right foods.

We were at a football get-together (Go ND!) yesterday with a carry in. There were several good salads there, a mixed veggie salad (made by a diabetic lady), freezer coleslaw, and kidney bean salad. I ate at least a cup of each, plus a couple chicken wings sans skin. I never did get a full feeling, but then, I never do.

I plan to see my doctor next week. I am at 6 cc in an AP large band.

Perhaps I need a fill. I want to feel full sooner. Do you think that would help?

I will admit it is nice to be able to go to events and eat something. And to be able to go out for dinner with others and not call attention to myself.

What is Facebook and do they have a web site?

How did you make out with getting a fill? How much and did your doctor give you a "rule of thumb". My understanding is if you reach a plateau and are not losing weight then a fill is required. My problem has been the doctor has tried .25 cc and I found I was vomiting every few days. When he took it out I have been OK and the weight continues to go down albeit slowly.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
