2 3/4 months- have lost 49.5#

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to share that I have now lost 49.5#. Was banded 10-29-07. Wondering how others, who were also banded around this time are doing? Hasn't been easy..but have relied on will power, restraint, and of course the help of the lap band. Have only had one fill so far, 4ml in a 14ml band. Go back in a couple of weeks for 2nd fill. Hope I feel some restriction after that. Honestly, I don't feel much, if any, restriction thus far. Have never vomitted and have never been nauseous.. Thankful for all that. Just wanted all to know, that the sacrifies have been worth it..Have about60 more # to lose, looking forward to the new me. Would love to know, how the journey has been for you?

Victoria,

CONGRATS! I'm new to the board and yours is the first post I have read. Sounds like you have done a great job adjusting to your band. I hope to have surgery in the spring, your post is very encourgaing. Keep up the great work!

congratulations that is awesome. i got banded on nov19 and lost 20lbs in one month, it has slowed down since then but im 2 months out and have lost 28lbs, i wish it was more but i have to admit that i have cheated a few times on sweets and once mcdonalds. it was moslty around the holidays though and ive recently started exercising a month ago which i notice my clothes fitted losely. ive had one fill which i can notice some restriction. somedays i can eat more than others but for the most part it helps. thanks for sharing your success and good luck to you. have you had any fills yet?

congrats, I had my surgery on the 24th of Nov. and have only lost about 10-12lbs depending on the day...but to be honest I just started exercising this week and I am trying to eat better. I have been eating worse since the band the before expecting it to work miracles and I am eating alot more than I should be able to. Have had 2 fills one 2ml and one 1ml in a 14ml band as well. best to you..how do you fight off urges since you are not at restriction like myself...what are you eating?

Victoria - Your story sounds quite similar to mine. I was banded on 10-11-07 and have lost 60 pounds. I have 3 cc's in a 14 cc band and only one fill. As long as I am loosing at least 2 pounds average per week they won't give me a fill. I'm hoping for next month because the weight loss has slowed down this month. I do notice a slight restriction, I can't eat quite as much (1 slice of pizza vs 3) and have pb'd 2 or 3 times (eating too fast), but other than that I can eat all foods with no difficulty. I have been extremely happy with my journey so far.

I was banded on the 13th Nov '07, so far I've only lost 28lbs/13kg.

I'm waiting desperately on my 2nd fill...

I guess I just say, I can't have this or that because of the band. The band, I use it as an excuse to say ..I can't eat that...For instance, I haven't had one morsel of bread since Oct, no corn, no rice, no popcorn, no nuts...I eat high Protein, not shakes or supplements, just meat and fish. Lots of fish..talapia, salmon, etc. Canned chicken, deli slices smoked turkey and ham, with this slices of cheese melted on the sandwich type meat in the microwave, and eat breadless sandwiches! At night I'll drink sugar free hot chocolate, or skinny cow frozen fudge bar. Another think I really like is to take a Fugi apple, peel and slice it..Put a teaspoon of butter in a small skillet and saute the apple a few minutes. Put a tsp of Splenda brown sugar on it , mix it up and eat that. It really tastes like a dessert..

Nisaa, I guess I really must have wanted a pat on the back, now that I look back of what I wrote. Oh well, that's what this site is for...positive strokes..and those positive strokes can maybe encourage someone else!Good luck and much success.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
