I'm not cutting carbs. I think the 100 calorie Snacks are good to have around! I can't eat bread, but before my restriction was good and tight, I ate Healthy Life white bread.. 70c for TWO slices, and 6g of Fiber. And tastes 100% and texture 100% like 'normal' white bread. I am not a fan of wheat.

I added some whole wheat bread toasted after about the fifth week, just occassionally to get some fiber in. Just had a fill, so I'm going slow trying certain foods again. I'll wait about a week before trying bread. We only use whole wheat at home, we made the switch about a year ago and I found it easy to get used to and really like it now.

I've never had the 100 calorie packs, trying to avoid "bad" foods and Snacks like that until I get closer to goal. I don;t want them to be part of my every day diet, right now.

i do eat complex carbs, it def helps curb my hunger... whole wheat bread and oatmeal are good.... theres no harm in having a 100 cal pack that might not be whole grain once a day... as long as its just ONE! Ive found that by allowing myself one treat a day vs. depriving myself keeps me on track for the long run. All i get with depervation is pent up cravings.. lol..

For me, having a sweet snack opens up the door to more. That's how I got fat. One cookie, one snack wasn't enough.

I hope the band will curb the amount of everything, including Snacks, I take in and I plan to stay away from having Snacks in my house for awhile.

That's why the forum is great, you get different opinions and you can try different things to see what works for you.

There's a lot of different paths to take to end up at the same destination.

Healthy Life bread.. I found it at some discount store, but once they hooked me, I realized it's everywhere. I just never noticed it. They do make it in wheat too, if you just like wheat. But it's enhanced fiber, and low-cal.

You know, I see a topic like "Help!!!" in food and I think - someone must be badly stuck on something, or has just had a bout of sickness and doesn't know what they can eat, or is in a lot of pain because of some type of food... so I open the thread and it's someone wanting to know about carb intake and 100 calorie snack packs.

I eat bread and carbs as tolerated. If I eat bread I prefer better quality breads such as fresh-baked artisan loaves. I'll have the occasional tasted English muffin, and I use jalapeno tortillas for wraps. Sliced bread doesn't do much for me. I avoid most white carbs most of the time, but if I want something with them in it, I have it.

I'd have to agree, "HELP!!!" told me someone had some serious issue.

Bread... the one really great thing about my band is that I can't eat bread. If I could I'd never stop, bread is a huge trigger food for me.

I do my absolute best to make this a lifestyle change and if I started on bread type foods, it wouldn't work in my case.

wow...how nice to make me feel like the idiot... i'm a newly banded person who needed help..sorry if my title is wrong... but everyone has an opinion... i believe i've started my last thread.

Wheet made an observation. I don't see this as trying to hurt you. I wouldn't get so bent on just one little comment.

Tomeka,

There is no easy answer except to say that until you get your next fill, you will need to "diet" or you could continue to gain weight. This is where some will power is needed to get you through until your next appt. It is the time all banders hate.

Try a couple days of "full liquids" to get back on track and try counting your calories and Protein. Stay at 1200 calories or less and get in at least 50 to 60 gms of Protein daily.

Good Luck.

when i was really loose, the 100 calorie packs were life savers. honestly, now that i am tighter, i don't really want them. weird, but good. :(

i did have a craving for rolls last week (before my 3rd fill). i ate 2 of them like a dummy, and they went down fine, but when i went to take a drink 30 minutes later (instead of an hour), all the liquid came back up and it was extremely uncomfortable. (i have a harder time keeping liquids down than food, i pb drinks a lot, but i have never pb'd food).

anyways, i could eat bread, too. my doctor believes that bread should only be eaten if you find that you are really hungry between meals, and you are eating dense foods. then you can eat some bread, as it will act like a sponge and expand and keep you full.

however, for some, it is definately a trigger food. and when i was loose, i found that i could not eat 1 100 calorie pack (of the carrot cake), i always had 2. now, i think i would choke on 2..lol.

so, it is really an individual thing. as is with all food and the band. except don't eat sugar. and make sure if you are eating bread that it is whole grain.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
