Haven't gone done any dress sizes yet...how long for you?

I just realized that I must have been wearing my clothes way too tight. I have lost 33 pounds but I haven't really gone down a full dress size. I can't wait until I actually get from a 22/24 to a loose 18/20! How long did it take you to have to buy new clothes? My wedding ring keeps falling off my finger and my shoes are getting bigger...this thing is awesome!

In the beginning it takes more pounds to go down one size but the smaller you shrink the faster you change sizes. As SOON as you find a cute outfit, one you just adore, it no longer fits.

It took me between 40 & 50 lbs, if I remember correctly. And then, as Wasa said, it was like I was down a size every other week.

Think of your body as a roll of paper towels. Or an onion, your choice. When you peel of the few layers, it doesn't look that much smaller. But when you only have 15 layers left, and peel off ten, it's a huge difference in size. It's a matter of percentage of excess external fat, versus overall body size. If you weigh 300 lbs and lose 10 lbs, you can't even tell. That's because you've lost such a small percentage of your excess weight. Now take someone who weighs 180 and take away 10 lbs, and they might very well be down a size.

Plus when we're bigger, we tend to wear alot of stretchier type fabrics (or at least I did). We're about even Anyalee with out weight loss, I'm not seeing much difference yet either and nobody has really noticed that I've lost weight 30+lbs.

This drove me CRAZY. I started at 292 and was in a 26/28 but they must have been pretty snug. After I lost about 60 pounds I was in a pair of jeans that were 26, but they got really loose, and I didn't even realize it. I actually had a few friends tell me to get some new clothes. Even though I had lost 70 pounds when I finally went shopping last month, I was still in a 18/20 on the bottom. What I realized though, is that I could wear a regular XL top (started at a 26/28). It took me a few trips to the store to realize what size I really wore. I think in our head we may still think we're bigger. You may want to try some new types of clothes. I know how unbelievably frustrating it is. It took me 70 pounds for everyone to really notice my weight loss, but now i can just lose a few pounds and people notice. You are almost to that point. It will happen soon, just be patient!

I've lost 50 lb since the summer, and I still have a few "fat girl" clothes that I can wear. However, they look a lot better on me now than they did then! Some of them were clothes I had bought before I gained the last 35 lb anyway, and I was wearing them tight. Plus, as said before, most of the stuff I wore was bought stretchy and baggy anyway to hide what was underneath.

I've also found that with less gut I buy styles that are cut trimmer, like non-elastic waist jeans, not just because they look okay now, but because they weren't comfortable before with a big belly hanging over the waistband.

It's funny but lots of times my body shrinks during the times the scale says I'm not losing weight. It takes time for the skin to shrink and tighten up after the weight loss, I guess.

In other words, it will come. Congrats on your weight loss!
