Hi! I was just banded on Monday January 7th and I had a fantastic experience. Glad to say that all went well, in fact I was doing so well that I was sent home the very next day..... I made sure that I got up and out of the hospital gurney as much as I could without overdoing it, and made my rounds walking around the nurses station and back, used my spirometer often, coughed and cleared up my lungs, sipped slowley and waited every 5 minutes, etc. Because I am doing everything by the book I feel that has a huge part as to how I'm recovering so well. I have also noticed that my stomach doesnt really ROAR so much when it growels like it did before I was banded. Don't get me wrong, my stomach still growels a bit however the intensity of the roar is now like small rumbles! ....... I wanted the lap-band so bad and was mentally prepared for it and now I cannot wait to reap all the benefits from this towards a new and healthy and fulfilled life! YEAH!!

I thought I was a major trooper for going home several hours after surgery and really feeling grand. Then I went to support group last night and there was a woman who had surgery New Year's Eve and "hosted" a party that night. She felt so good they just invited everyone over. So much for me being such a trooper, huh. :D

Ha! We are practically also in the same weight catagory as well!.... I went to Dr.Peter LePort's 'SMART DIMENSIONS' weight loss group and had my surgery at Orange Coast Memorial Hospital in Fountain Valley, CA. No regrets here! I noticed today that I am passing gas more than usual which I am guessing is the air that's trying to leave my body from the surgery....

Congratulations both of you...I'm glad you're both feeling well after surgery. I went home the same day of my surgery and I felt okay until around day 3ish. But nothing major that I couldn't handle. Mostly gas pain. Get to know your band well...it can be your best friend or a bad enemy if you don't treat it right. :D

Take care...

:clap2:

You go girlfriend! You sound exactly like me when I started out. I went in so gung ho and I was absolutely "by the BOOK" on everything I did. As a 45-year yo-yo dieting failure I knew this was my last stand and I was going to give it every opportunity to work for me. Let me tell you. It DOES work! It's all about Portion Control (and dietary choice common sense thrown in). My journey has been a pure joy...and to me it has not been hard. I made a commitment, I went after it with a vengeance and I am reaping HUGE rewards.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
