Holy Crapola...

The surgeons office just called my work. I am having my surgery next Friday. I didn't think it would happen that fast. I need to take off Thursday and Friday and get labs, etc for the surgery. I am all of a sudden nervous.

;) I'm nervous, too. I hope you're OK. But you know we'll all be praying for you and I'll get my MIL to pray for you too...she's got a direct connection!! I swear she prayed my Mom right out of ICU!!
....."it looks like you're doing good at getting your Protein in". AH HUH! And I don't even use shakes. Preen.

----

WOW!! I just had to move 60lb box of white tiger beanie babies from my office to accounting. I thought I was going to die, and I dropped it a couple times.

And that's just 60lbs.. I lost 100lbs. Holy crapola.

What's "preen"? Damn, I'm old.

Doesn't it just blow your mind when you have to move a heavy box like that and realize how much weight you used to carry around??? DANG, no wonder you were in pain, Laura! That's just a distant memory now, ain't it? :biggrin2: That's so great.

Just got home from going out to lunch with hubby and I think I'm dunk.....No, I think I'm drun....no, runk... Oh Hell, I think I'm wasted.
Did you have a nooner too??? What the heck did you drink??
.....just got a call ... ding! my kittens are done! LOL They are ready to be picked up. I'm so very excited! So... going to work on things, so that Thursday we can pick them up!
How many kittens are you getting?? I love kitties.
...And this pic is NOT going in her digital picture frame lol.
I think you ought to splice it with one of your current pics and put THAT in the digital frame. You don't even look like the same person. O.M.G.

Nothin' going on in my world. Same ol' same ol'. That's not always a bad thing! Oh! My boss is gone for the next TWO WEEKS!! So I'll be hanging out witchu guys! Lucky you!

Where is Denise (Adorable)???????

Laura - that is a tremendous before picture - you have done WONDERFUL!

Pamela - I will be keeping you in my prayers - wishing you a quick reecovery!

Sorry I have been MIA -- I traveled 3 weeks straight - crashing my laptop - so waited for a new one and getting it set back up.

Then home Improvement -- I don't know how much more my marriage can take of home improvements. We have 4 outside doors replaced - the old ones were rusting - so we replaced with fiberglass. We have a soft spot in the kitchen - so fixed the floor - tearing up the pergo that was there, that the previous owners placed over vinyl to hide Water damage and rotten floor. We replaced with Bolvarian Rosewood Hardwood floors -- also the entry way we tore up the tile floor that was humpty bump - replacing with same hardwood as well. Talk about dust everywhere.

They are coming back tomorrow to lay hardwood in the foyer - and then replacing the front door and sidelights - then comes staining it.

Well you get the picture -- sorry I rambled --

I have a fill appt Thursday - my last under warranty - even though I don't need one. I am frustrated some times I can eat 3 fresh baked butter rolls - other times can't get a carnation instant Breakfast down. candy and Ice cream never a problem - or Cookies.< /p>

Have a good night -

Hubby and I went and checked out the new Bass Pro. It just opened about 5 weeks ago. We were waiting the crowds to die down before going anywhere near it. Wow, it's huge and awesome. We had a great time walking around seeing everything. As we were getting ready to leave I made the coment about how thirsty I was and hubby said that there was a bar in the restaurant. I made a bee line for it thinking I was going to get me an iced tea. So we sit downa nd the waitress comes over and hands us the menus. I'm looking on there and they have these five drinks listed. I don't remember the name of the drink but it had mango juice, pineapple juice, coconut and Rum. That's all it took for me. Ended up ordering one. We ordered an appetizer to share and than ordered another drink. Ended up bringing the appetizers home for dinner. Two drinks are my limit and boy were they good. Almost forgot how good rum is.

Going to go get the hair cut tomorrow. I was looking in the mirror while drying it this morning and came to the realization that if I was a man I would be bald. The kind of bald were they have the little ring of hair around the bottom of the hair line. I would be bald on top. I had actually noticed this several years ago but just remembered it today. My hair is real thin on top and thick around the sides and back. This isn't from the Protein thing and surgery. It's all back in now. Just something weird I've noticed about me. OK, now you guys know my deep dark secret.

****QUESTION****

How long do you guys take to eat a meal?

I mean, do you keep eating until you feel full...no matter how long it takes?

Or..

Do you quit eating when you're pre-measured food is gone?

Or..

Do you quit after 20 minutes?

Or what?

I am finding that I often will eat and eat until I feel satisfied...that may take an hour!! For instance, last night I was hungry for some MEAT! since my last fill I just know I'm not getting enough Protein. So I went to a BBQ place and got a chopped beef over a smallish baked potato. It tasted so good and I was determined to get that meat in!! So I sat there and read a book while I was eating (alone) and chewing the heck out of that meat before I swallowed! When I finally did check the time almost an hour and fifteen minutes had passed!!! I had finished about 2/3 of the meal in front of me...maybe 3 oz of beef and 1/2 c of potato.

Am I just eating too much???

Or..

Do you quit eating when you're pre-measured food is gone? I wish I would go back to measuring -- okay I will starting ...NOW. (I need to do liquids tomorrow ans Thursday (Fill day-Doctor weigh-in day)

Or..

Do you quit after 20 minutes? By 20 minutes - I have sholved more than enough food to get vapor locked!

Or what?

I am finding myself GRAZING -- eating meal then handful peanuts 30 minutes later - candy - whatever! Cold coffee with lots of international Creamer is very high in calories - but goes down so good. And carnation instand breakfast with extra choc Syrup and Peanut Butter --mmmm good.

OKAY -- I AM A PIG.

Oops? I should be pre-measuring my food?

Actually, I guess I do, sometimes... always at lunch I weigh my 3 oz of Protein, whatever it is... but I don't measure veggies... and if we eat out, I eat pretty much whatever will go down in the time it takes everyone to eat... last week I brought home about 1/2 of my steak + mushrooms...

I definitely don't stop @ 20 mins... I'll go longer to get it in...

I'm still a fatty in my head... so yeah, I keep on eating 'til I get what's rightfully mine!

Uhm.. sounds like you're eating fine Terri, was that dinner? Or snack? Hehe. For dinner, that sounds right to me!! Bit of a big snack though if it was a snack.

But hour and fifteen minutes.. if I was eating that long, I'd have eaten QUITE A BIT more.. so I guess it doesn't matter. I normally take 20 minutes to eat my meal, and I eat about 2-4oz total--I don't measure, I wait till the band tells me to stop, which is always after a small portion. Don't ask me about lately, I'm in dire need of fill.

The 'rule of thumb' from the literature they gave me is 4oz of meat (size of a deck of cards) and.. honestly I forgot the rest, the deck of cards just stood out to me since I like poker!!

Terry

honestly i'm out of control myself (or so I think). If it is there I will eat it. I will eat until it is gone, 20mins, or an hour.

It really depends on my mood, most of the time i can eat 1/2 sub and every once in a while i could eat the entire thing but i'm eating forever.

I do need to say... I make subs, there is only 1 kind of roll I can eat and i only put 3 oz meat on the entire thing, NO TOMATOES.... they kill me and there has to be ita dressing on it... so it is not like a huge sub

PS...

I am getting 2 kittens. since my fluffy died at xmas we have just been so lost, and mom knows a nurse who had long hair kittens. Mom looks like a smaller fluffy. We are taking the runt (I keep thinking of Charletts Web (sp) ) he is all black and then the other one my ds picked out is bigger, we think male too but we were not 100% sure because they were only 1 week old when we picked them and he/she was a fuz ball - that one is black with a white belly and white paws. I promise I'll post pics, they are so stinking cute.

No one cat will ever come close to my fluffy unless these are him. He was the best ever - never used a litter box, snuggled only when he wanted but always wanted to be in the room with us and hung out with all the neighborhood dogs, everyone welcomed him into their house. I miss him so

anyway, I would have taken all 5 but i'm not that insane!

night all

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
