Hi Everyone,

My talent I guess would have to be sewing, creative sewing like costumes etc. I've had a Fancy Dress Hire business that I've run from home for 14 years. I have a huge 8metre x 8metre shed at the back w/ windows and sliding glass doors. It's all set out exactly the same as a shop. All legal with the Shire and Tax dept. I love it when customers come back after their parties saying they've won 1st prizes.

At the moment I'm creating an unusual Easter Bonnet for my 9yr old Granddaughter for her school parade. I've drawn it but have been too ill to make it. Hopefully I'll be able to do it after the op.

It's going to be a skull cap shape with lots of jester type horns sticking out around it all in a green grassy looking material (don't know the name of it) that has rows of fine fringeing. In the centre at the top sits a white little bunny clasping a tiny cane basketfull of tiny easter eggs an surrounded by tiny yellow fluffy chickens. Hanging from the fringed branches (horns) will be colourful little chocolate easter eggs. I'll sew these on after I burn holes through the top with a hot needle.

I'm going to miss the business. The sale fell through by the way but I'm not going to stress about it.

Best wishes.

Hi,

Thankyou all so much for your good wishes. I promise I'll be thinking of you all as I go under. I'm to arrive at the hospital at 6.30am but don't know the op time, just that it's in the morning. Gone are the days when you'd get to sleep in the hospital the night before the op.

Oregondaisy I'm so sorry for scaring you. As I've said before my situation is not a normal one. I guess I'm just unlucky but there is always the off one in a bunch that things don't work for. I also agree with what Janet said in regards to the surgeon. Unfortunately we can't find out specialists/surgeons records of success and failures over here (don't know if you can) and just have to take a name picked out of a medical book by the GP. When you ask a surgeon of his failures...........of course they've never had any!!!! At least this GP looked into it for me and found me a good surgeon who is going to do his best. I'm very grateful for that.

Two of my cousins (sisters) in Melbourne, Victoria, have both had stapling done. The younger one had it done thirty years ago and lost heaps. She actually married afterwards to a guy 19 years her junior and had two more kids. She had it redone again 5 years ago and looks fantastic. Her older sister was stapled four weeks afterwards and looks fabulous too.

Neither of them have had any problems and yet I've heard that stapling is worse than banding. Not for them it wasn't.

Good luck for your operation and I hope to talk to you again soon.

See ya.

Sit ups. Have any of you been told not to do them, that they could rip out your stitches holding your band in place? I read this in another thread, and feeling paranoid about that now.

I can't do a sit up, but trying. Im doing crunchs with a twist to each side, trying to work into a real sit up. Cant with my big stomach. Im still 37 inches around the smallest part of my waist and one of my dresses I need to get into says 35 inch waist.

Good luck from me too. I have heard good things about the sleeve, that it might have been a better choice for me and others who had second thoughts they might have chosen it too. I think you will do great. You have such a good attitude toward this, you are bound to succeed.

Yes, you can do sit ups. I do them all the time. You shouldn't do them immediately after surgery, but it's fine if

you are far enough out from surgery. They do hurt to begin with, but that's just because your muscles aren't used to it. I still get sore if I go a few days without doing them, and then go back at it.

Thanks Daisy, Ill keep trying. So far I cant do any, but Im hopefull. Between my osteroperosis and fat stomach, I cant do even one, but Im trying to get to where I can. I dont care if it hurts, as long as it wouldnt hurt my band.

Now a days people don't do the actual sit ups that were done years ago. If you bend your legs and lay on the floor, just reach towards your legs as far as you can.

I don't think it's prudent to do situps too soon after surgery but once you are well out have never heard it's bad. I do 200 crunches every other day, never had a problem. When I think situps I think the old fashioned lie down on the floor and sit up and touch your toes. What I do they call a crunch and you lie down and focus on a spot on the ceiling and bend your knees and then just crunch up part way. I do 10 different variations of that for 20X each on my Power 90 DVD

Hi All,

It's been fun to hear about everyone's talents. I am of the belief that there is no such thing as a person who is not creative. That's just how we are made.

Katy - you have so many friends here who care about you and will be praying for you. We are all looking forward to your first posting after you are safely home and recovering. I know you are concerned about gaining the weight back and what your alternatives are, but you probably should just put all that in the background and concentrate on recovering your strength and feeling better. It will all come together for you in good time. You are a strong woman and you will figure it all out. Think of the old adage, "where there's a will, there's a way." You will find your way to maintain your health and be with your family and friends.

Hugs,

Katy should be in surgery or close to it as the time change over there puts her way ahead of us. Let's all keep her in our prayers tonight.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
