Say No To Carbs 2 Day Challenge...come Join Me

Ok, I got this idea from LapBandit, and thought it was great.

I am having a really hard time with simple carbs since the holidays. I am have MEGA SUGAR CRAVINGS!!! I have got to get things back under control.

Here's the challenge.....

For the next 2 days only Protein shakes and Water (or Crystal Light). At least 64 ounces of water and how ever many shakes it takes.

Hopefully this will break the carb cravings that we are struggling with.

I know this won't be the best thing for everyone, but if you want to join in please do. We can chear each other on, and kick those carbs to the curb once again.!!

Amy

I didn't do so well today. I came home from work and ate a bunch of raspberry sherbert that was left over from my daughter's baby shower.

I found out that my dad probably has lung cancer. I waited all day for his doctor to call me but he never did.

My dad will see him tomorrow and we will find out the results of his cat scan.

georgia girl I am so happy for you!! I did fine today as well. 32 oz protein drink, 0 calorie grape water, sugar-free jello, but got really hungry and felt drained and weak so I had a small cup of chili...about 18 carbs in the chili. I will drink chai tea if I get hungry later. I will weigh tomorrow at my fill appt and check back in here in the evening.

Thanks Bunny, sounds like you did good too! I had a low carb slim fast for breakfast and one for lunch. I decide late afternoon that I would eat dinner tonight because I wasn't craving anything, and I felt I had accomplished what I set out to do. So, we went to Wendy's tonight and I ate a small chili and 1 of my son's chicken nuggets. Not too bad, so tomorrow I will be back on my regular diet. I'm not going to do strictly low carb, but just a healthy, balanced, meal. Bunny you are doing great, keep up the good work!

I am so sorry to hear about your dad. Just know I am sending up prayers for your dad and sending you cyber hugs ((HUGS)). Please let us know what you hear tomorrow.

Ok, I kinda hate to revive this thread, but I am having some MAJOR carb cravings. Atkins induction is the only thing that helps me get this under control. Georgia Girl and I are going to begin the atkins induction on Tuesday. I plan to do it for 2 weeks and then go back to a high protein/healthy carb diet. Are any of you struggling again with carb cravings. if so, join us as we kick the carbs to the curb!!!

Like I said, tommorow is a free day. We will begin in full force on Tuesday!!

I am joining in too. I was completely out of control while I was in Arizona taking care of selling my dad's things, putting his house on the market, and making sure he is happy in his assisted living place.

I was planning on doing it but now this thread will be very helpful again.

He's doing okay. He has an appointment in early July to find out why he has this spot on his lungs. He had a CT and his dr. doesn't think it's cancer so he is sending him to a specialist.

He's not very happy in assisted living. It's been a big adjustment for him. At 89, he really can't live alone, so there are no other options.

Denise, I will certainly pray for yall. We went through the same thing with my grandfather. everyday he asked to go home. It was really hard on my mom. He finally did adjust and enjoyed his "home away from home". Glad to hear that they don't think your dad has cancer. That's good news.

Christal, Welcome. There's no better time to get back on the wagon than now!!

Do you know how long it took him to adjust?

My dad hates the food there. He is starting to go on some of the activities, so that has been helping.

I remembered my daughter had M&Ms at her house. I have been house sitting all weekend at her house. I took my dog home and remembered the M&M's and that was all I could think about. It will be good to get the carbs out of my system. I know so well from past experience

how the cravings go away once I am off of them for a couple of days.

I would like to join you all. I'm on a mission to make it to onederland and I seem to be at a stand still. blah! Ready to kick the carbs to the curb for while. Looking forward to doing it with you guys this time.

Denise - I was a healthcare coordinator at an assisted living for 2 years before I had my girls. I know how hard it is for people to adjust to a new living arrangement like this. They have to give up so much. It is equally hard on family members. I would try to make sure he is getting involved in some type of activities. So many times the elderly tend to want to seclude themselves to their apartment, even for meals! I hope he adjusts well.

Within about 6 months pa pa had adjusted pretty well. He also had dementia and his memory had started getting really bad. He did start going to the dining room and other activities. He got to where he loved to flirt with the nurses. Cracked me up. Like I said, the dementia had gotten pretty bad. He passed away about a year ago. I miss him. Thinking about him still makes me laugh. The main thing he missed was his car. After he adjusted he began to joke about it some. When I would come in to see him, the first thing he would say was, "Have you seen my old car driving around out there without me".

I hope your father adjusts better soon. Pa Pa used to gripe about the food a lot too. Mom put some of his favorites in a little refridgerator in his room. We would bring him food too. This helped a lot.

Okay, tomorrow is the big day. I don't have a lot of meat in the house but hopefully I have enough to last me until grocery day, which is Friday. I just got a fill too, so I'm not sure I can eat much meat right now but I am going to do the best I can. I really need to get back on track so I hope doing this will help jump start my weight loss again.

Can't wait to get started!

Count me in guys!!!!!! I want to see my scale move. But help me cause I've never done Atkins, what do I do for this induction phase??? I was going to try the protein shake and water thing like you did renewedhope. I am ready!!!!!
