Yes it is-- Prospect St. and which Dr. was your surgeon. Thanks so much!

Now I didnt' have my Lapband surg. done there. But my Best Friend had her Gastric Bypas (roux-n-y) done there by Dr. Kam or Tam(?)

Anyways, I went with her for her pre-op appts and stuff as she had never driven in US before and I was familiar with Detroit area. So away we went and she was THRILLED with the care that she got. Great support and aftercare... the surgeon called her himself months after the proceedure to see how she was doing. She's lost 65 -70 lbs. although she still has some to go and has kinda stalled in the W/L dept. not any fault of theirs or the surgery.... she has just had alot of other issues in her life and has not made her weight loss her priority right now.

But I am gonna start kicking her butt.... LOL

Are you an insurance Pay lapband? or are you self pay like us Canadians?

Ok, this is the same place and the service is outstanding. I did the consult one day with Dr. Popalawski and then went through the insurance waiting period of about 2 1/2 months. GRUELING, but I had all of my paperwork in order and just stayed on top of it from week to week. By the time the phone call came to schedule the surgery I was elated that insurance covered it all.

The preop was not with the actual surgeon, but the day of surgery I was there bright and early. I was first up at 6:00am and by 7:00 the surgeon came in with all of the surgery team and they were all masters at their crafts. Once they started putting the juice in, it was just a matter of time before it was lights out, and the next thing I heard was my name and waking up in my room, I opted to stay overnight.

A week later, I have had a couple of calls from the clinic staff, checking on me, and my Dr. appointment is Monday so, overall, it has been steady and good. Just a LOT of gas, pain and soreness around my incisions.

Any secret incision balm to heal up the wounds and minimize the scars?

Hi Corletta;

If it were me, I'd not put anything on the scars (except soap & water) for 6 wks... to ensure that the tiny wounds are well healed.

Myself, I did not feel the need to worry about the scars as in time they all fade to white(I'm caucasion) and I really don't think about it much.

Some people though if they are prone to keloids may want to put some kind of sauve on... I'd take the recommendations of the BARIX staff. I am sure they would be well versed on such questions.

Best of luck to you in your NEW Life!!!

Congrats

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
