I Had Mini gastric bypass 3 weeks ago, and the social worker I had to meet was VERY RUDE! & Depression :c

The title says it all, and I don't feel like going too much in depth about it, because I already spoken to it with friends and what not. But, yeah. he Was Not a nice person. and it was Not a nice welcome after having the surgery done. The way he overwhelmed me did make me go and eat, I wont sugar coat it. But, i am back to eating healthy and normally now.

He gave me mean faces, Gave me Stern looks, and was just spiteful and hateful in general. Extremly impatient, didn't want to answer any of my questions, and Wanted to label me as an emotional eater, but my therapist diagnosed me as someone who does NOT suffer from emotional eating.

I do occasionaly emotionally eat, IF i am shocked, or traumatized (like any other sane human being) or any other patient who will go to this monster of a "Social Worker".

but that dosen't mean emotionally eating is a daily occurance, or a prominent experience in my life (Hence the therapist diagnose).

Man, i was so excited and proud of myself for having the surgery, having to meet that Butt FACE was really not what i was hoping for.

On another topic, the depression is real yo.

Like, you lose the weight.. (they performed a 2 meter bypass on me from the mini gastric bypass)

and its lovely.

but if you don't go outside, take walks, experience the world, and you remain stuck at home while losing weight, you will feel MISREABLE. at first, it was cool, i was able to play more video games, stay awake for longer, feeling energized. it was exciting, fresh!

all of a sudden, you become drowsy, slow. you don't eat junk, you eat healthy, and you lose the weight, and your appetite is not what it used to be.

but you just feel.. like you are in an area where the sun light dosent reach.

I think today I am going to force myself to go out and walk/sit outside in the sun.

It just feels so lonely, like.. this whole weight loss process. I wanted to have a room of people cheering for me, but its actually one of the lonlinest Experiences I ever had.

again, an unpleasent surprise.

Of course, at the end of it, its all worth it! Who cares about how lonely it feels?? after everything people did to me, I want to lose all the weight and be a skinny legend just to shove in THEIR FACES!!!! and be like "yeah, you didn't give 2 creeps about me, yeah, it was a lonely journey. BUT HERE I AM, healthier, THINNER, happier. and Far more powerfull and independent. NOW WHAT???"

this is a wild journey.

Don't get on it, if you can't handle the heat. Honestly. its not for everybody.

And if you do decide to go through this journey. BE PREAPRED, food DOES NOT TASTE GOOD ANYMORE. and food DOES NOT REWARD YOUR BODY ANYMORE. as in, when you eat, you don't feel good. you feel like you ate something bad, that your body dosen't even like!!!

IF YOU CAN'T GET OVER THAT, BE CAREFUL WITH HAVING THE SURGERY. because its a very real experience and shift your body experiences after weight loss surgery

Kay love you all,

talk to me!!!

Adam

Hey Adam! I am sorry you were met with such an unsupportive & rude social worker. I know the feeling of being dismissed all too well, especially when you have genuine concerns, questions and/or pleas for help. I hope you are able to find your answers within this platform/forum.

I’m 11 days away from having my mini gastric bypass overseas & I’m a nervous wreck over it. I don’t really have support I thought I had from one of my coworkers & my boss/the owner, but that’s a whole other story. I live alone and I worry about what it will be like when I get back from having surgery. I mean I’ll go back to being at work where I’m around people, but when I’m not at work I’m home alone. I can see becoming depressed.

Sorry you had such a jerk of a social worker, make sure you tell your doctor so they don't send people to him anymore. And you don't ever have to go back to him even if you have an appointment scheduled and even if your doctor recommended him, you can cancel that appointment and tell your doctor you don't want to see that social worker again. The doctors, and that social worker, work for you. You are paying them. I am having my surgery on Wednesday this week, I'm very excited.

I am sorry you had to deal with such a rude social worker. Hopefully you can transfer to someone different. I do know about the real struggle with depression after the surgery... that and the full out fatigue were the hardest parts for me. I am now 5+ months post op and doing pretty well. Sure, I still have depression and the comfort food cravings but I don't want all the ills that come with obesity and am doing all I can to stay on track. I am not perfect and fall back on sweets from time to time, but my smaller tummy will not let me completely over indulge on any kind of food. Best of luck!
