  1. @Taminator88 I did think of one other thing that you could maybe do for exercise. I have seen a bunch of videos on YouTube for mild or no impact chair (I know... chronic pain people hear this word far too often) yoga. I have tried a couple of different videos but have not found a "fun" one that clicks with me yet. Keep trying, your health is worth it! And best of luck with the colonoscopy and (more importantly) the awful prep you have to do before it!
  2. No, hospital stay @Ctuts after the procedures? They (mainly insurance companies I think) are kicking people out of the hospital way too early on a lot of things. Yeah, I was guessing $10,000 minimum. Better start collecting my coins now to put in the "piggy bank" for a few years down the road.
  3. I am sorry you had to deal with such a rude social worker. Hopefully you can transfer to someone different. I do know about the real struggle with depression after the surgery... that and the full out fatigue were the hardest parts for me. I am now 5+ months post op and doing pretty well. Sure, I still have depression and the comfort food cravings but I don't want all the ills that come with obesity and am doing all I can to stay on track. I am not perfect and fall back on sweets from time to time, but my smaller tummy will not let me completely over indulge on any kind of food. Best of luck!
  4. I am sorry to hear of your struggles. I rely heavily on my food app to keep track of calories and water intake. With fibromyalgia it is hard to do much exercise. I do manage some treadmill walking (or the outside or even a mall inside are free to walk) and about once or occasionally twice a week I use a therapy pool to exercise in. If you can find a well heated pool it is much easier on the body than any other exercise I have tried... just watch that it is warm enough because the cooler the water there is more chance of cramping up the muscles. I hope you find something to help! One more thing real quick. Although you are no longer in the area, does the surgeon or clinic you had your surgery done through offer any kind of support group? My clinic hosts 3 zoom meetings a month and also have a Facebook group that is somewhat active. That may be another source for information too. There is also forums specifically for the GLP-1s on this site that you should take a look at and see what has been said there. Best of luck!
  5. What an ordeal! I am so glad you found another surgeon to correct the issue and are doing well now. I am coming up on 6 months post-op and seeing that my arms will need a lift definitely and a potential balancing of my breast (22 year breast cancer survivor with a lumpectomy). I know it is still too early to look into it, but I am curious did your insurance cover the lifts? I am a little nervous about how much those procedures may cost. Take care!
  6. The Fairlife milk is a great option. I found a lot of variety with the Premier Protein shakes, many flavors to choose from. Best of luck on your healthy journey!
  7. I use Baritastic and it is good. Just be sure to log everything everyday. Good luck!
  8. I bought them on a whim. I went into the thrift store with the idea of just looking around and decided to take the plunge and get a smaller size of jeans. The ones I had been wearing with a belt I have been in for years - size 20 relaxed fit. I was brave and daring and picked two sizes smaller. I tried them on today, the day after Thanksgiving the biggest food holiday in the US and THEY FIT! I did my little happy dance, shared with my boyfriend and now it is out the door for some Black Friday sales and a few essentials before the winter storm coming this weekend. I just had to share first. This works, stay on top of your calories, sip your water and MOVE. Then celebrate all that happens!
  9. It seems I cannot take a drink or bite of anything without having to burp, so I understand the gas. It has only gotten bad a couple of times and I chewed a couple of GasX tablets and it took care of it for me. I know the doctor said walking can help reduce the gas too. As for the rest... how much protein are you getting? I know the doctor said that higher doses of protein can cause constipation, so MAYBE you are not getting enough protein? I would definitely stay in contact with your doctor until this is resolved though. Hang in there!
  10. My protein go to was often thinned out tomato soup with Fairlife (higher protein) milk. I also tried a few of the first soft foods with a little of a unflavored protein powder. It is REALLY hard that first month or so to stay on goal. I struggled a LOT with water intake, I was just so full all the time. It will even out as time goes on. I also did my own protein rich shakes with a little protein powder (chocolate) and added peanut butter powder with the Fairlife milk and sometimes even a little greek yogurt added. Keep trying, you will get there.
  11. I recently had a desire for chocolate chip cookies and we had purchased some recently so I ate one. Then another and another and it was almost like I was in a trance. I snapped out of it before the package was empty, but I am sure an accurate calorie count for that day would have been double what I should have, at least double. It happens. And I do know I was a little stressed and I am pretty sure it was a reach for comfort foods. I do see a therapist (have for years) and it helps when I am accountable to someone. I see her tomorrow and will fess up to the truth. You have to face these issues head on, accept that we are all human and will make mistakes. The point is to learn from those mistakes and take that knowledge forward to prevent future problems. You did NOTHING wrong. You just fell back into an old pattern... reach for the new. Hang in there! We may not be perfect but we are beautiful!
  12. Oh, I am so jealous, never been there and it would give me so many steps for my day. I hope you have a great time and that includes snacking on some things beyond the diet. When I went to the state fair this year I did indulge a bit and I tracked it, but felt no shame for going over my calories. It was interesting to see what (lack of) nutritional content was in the cookies, funnel cake and pulled pork slider but I wanted to stick with my logging my food and be honest with what I ate. I just knew I was going to go over and allowed myself to with no guilt. I have seen some of the amazing food choices at Disney and you should sample what you can (without having to share with the kids) and live a little. Say hi to Minnie for me!
  13. I often find when I sit at my computer for long periods of time I want to snack. So far I have done things like almonds, cheese cubes or small slices, dried crisp apple chips... but no matter what I choose I do them one small bite at a time and chew chew chew, swallow and try to wait 2 to 5 minutes before the next bite. It takes up more time, you eat less and looking at the clock keeps you mind busy instead of thinking about the next bite. I hope you find a solution and get back on track. 🤗
  14. I am still struggling to answer this question myself. I have never been a big drinker, but then I lived with an alcoholic for twenty years so I view it a little differently than some. I like the taste of some mixed drinks, I am not after a buzz just the flavor. I have had a few nonalcoholic drinks or mocktails, but they are so high in calories. I am getting enjoyment being able to have coffee again after more than 6 months with out and that is good enough for me... for now at least. Then again there is always the question of carbonation or not too? So far I have avoided that as well, but I do miss the bubbles.
  15. I hope this is not TMI. Just reading this thread and at about 2 1/2 months since my surgery I guess I kind of experienced slimies . I guess I am fortunate or else built backwards. I did not throw up once, but the slime still came out. I gather from reading what has been said so far it is just extra saliva that turns into a mucus. I didn't have any pain or anything, just got rid of the slime when I went to the bathroom. But someone also asked about dumping... what is that?
  16. @danielrivera Surgery went great. I have struggled with fatigue and depression after the surgery but it is getting better. I am still finding 64 oz of water a day troublesome, but it is a little easier to make it to the bathroom in time. My biggest challenge now that the energy is returning is getting back into exercise.
  17. Years ago after my breast cancer treatments I joined a gym for a couple of years and used zero equipment, but took an awesome "yogalates" class that was basically, a cardio start, yoga in the middle, and then a pilates finish with an exercise ball. I LOVED that class. Unfortunately the teacher left the gym and they changed the class. I know my NP recommended some yoga for strength training or stretch bands. A personal trainer should be available at the gym even a one time free "session" to just go over the machines. I wish you luck @Bambi150 !
  18. @angieo99 If my math is correct you are about 2 weeks out now and likely on the presurgical diet, I hope it is going well. I was glad to see you waited on the tattoo, for both the potential risks and the potential for sagging skin to affect it down the road... and I am learning 6 weeks out - it is all sagging. I have a frog on my back my daughter designed when I went through breast cancer 22 years ago... so far it is holding up pretty well. But I am already considering a new tat when I hit my goal weight! 😁 Best of luck!
  19. @DaisyChainOz Congratulations on your weight loss, but more importantly congratulations on your decision to improve your health and use all the tools possible to achieve that. I am 6 weeks out today and have not dropped as fast as I thought I would, but it is coming off and I am adapting to this new lifestyle. Once I (hopefully) get past this terrible fatigue stage I am in, I hope to be able to move more and see better results. I just don't have the energy to do much yet. Hoping when I see the doctor next week he will let me back into the therapy pool for exercise again. Keep it up Daisy! 😉
  20. Tired is not the word... exhausted, fatigued beyond belief, a walking zombie? About a week ago was the worst and I ended up in the ER had blood and urine tests run and the doc told me I was fine. I did get a bag of fluids finished and they sent me home. As near as I can tell from research... at that time I was dehydrated from not hitting the 64 oz of water daily - I was just TOO full and so tired I wasn't awake enough to get fluids in. I have done much better with fluids (although I am behind today) but still the fatigue lingers. To quote the nurse one of the many times I talked to different doctors - "Everyone goes through it, you just have to ride it out." I'm sorry but that is not the right attitude when someone is stressed to the breaking point, in my opinion. I am increasing my visits to my mental health therapist and talking to my provider who prescribes my anti-depressants as it may be related to depression. I am taking all my vitamins and trying to get enough calories and water in, but the fatigue remains. With my luck it is just how my fibromyalgia body is reacting to the stress on my body and for fibro there is nothing that can be done about it. I hope you are resting better now and have regained some energy! 🤗
  21. @Bypass2Freedom would maybe a shop specializing in prosthetics or mammogram products be able to help?
  22. I have calls out to all my doctors of course it may be tomorrow before I hear back from them all. I did hear back from one already though and scheduled an appointment with her. I did not see any results for Iron on the blood tests run, unless it is disguised by another name. I am really disappointed by the dismissive attitude from the doctor I saw in the ER... got the strong feeling he was not a fan of the gastric sleeve procedure. I do have a touch more energy today but am still so tired and a persistent headache. Just wish I felt one doctor, any doctor was listening! Thank you so much @Arabesque for your comment and support!
  23. I have been struggling for weeks with severe fatigue. I can barely do anything and if I do it just wipes me out. Bounced back and forth from doctor to doctor (the good old pass the patient game) and heard everything from depression, to malabsorption of antidepressants, lack of calories, lack of water/dehydration. Today after 10 or 11 hours of sleep I woke up just as tired as I went to bed and my boyfriend put his foot down - You're going to the ER. So now about six hours after I went to the ER I am home drank a high protein shake and looked at my test results the doctor said were fine. I came across many abnormal readings. The concerning ones were the ALT and AST from my blood work were both high... is liver issues a problem after surgery usually? And the urinalysis had three test high including RBC, Calcium Oxalate Crystals (GREAT just what I need now - kidney stones) and Ketones. Has anyone else had test results like this? Or really high fatigue? Any ideas? I will start the doctor phone calls again in the morning and see what idea they come up with this time. I just want a little energy again!
  24. Thank you @SpartanMaker and @ms.sss. I have gotten two nights now of good sleep and feel much better. I have always been a bit of a night owl but 3 and 4 am was a little too late to get to sleep. Things are just taking a while to get back to something close to normal. I have been REALLY lucky and not had too much pain, nausea or spasms but the sleep issue was piling up on me. Next step I see the surgeon for a follow up tomorrow and talk to the dietician about moving to pureed food Monday. Changes, one ounce at a time!
  25. Today is one week since I had the sleeve surgery. At the hospital I got very intermittent sleep with the nurses taking vitals and giving meds, but at home I am having difficulty too. I was just wondering if this is somewhat common or am I the lucky one? i do have depression and anxiety issues and take medication for it but I have been awake as late as 4am trying to just sleep. I did call my MH doc today and get an ok for a bump in my anxiety meds at bedtime and I am hoping that will help. I tend to get some increased gas pains after I lay down and just can't "shut off." My post op appointment is in a couple of days, but was looking for answers here too. THANKS!
