Hello everyone. My name is Jennifer and I am a complete and total newbie at this. I've just now started thinking about Lap Band and it all seems kinda daunting. I don't even know where to begin, so any advice would be appreciated. Here is a little info about myself:

Height: 5' 5"

Weight: ~290 lbs

BMI: ~47.4

Insurance: Aetna Choice POS II (Open Access)

From what I have read so far it sounds like Aetna is going to be a pain in the butt.

Hi from Austin! I was banded 3 weeks ago, and my state employee insurance totally excludes the procedure, so I was self-pay. That was my new car. It was (and is) totally worth it, because I can see how it is changing my eating behaviors. It's a tool, and you won't be thin in 2 weeks, but it is very "liveable." Good luck!!

Hi Jennifer, Mistee, TXBandit, and Mellis -

It's always good to see other Texans! I was banded in mid-August, and so far I've lost about 40 pounds since surgery. Good luck to all of you!

I am from Killeen Tx. I had my surgery on 12/20/07. Still feeling some soarness but in all doin ok. I was also self-pay there went my new car also but I am not too sure if it was worth it yet. I am having mixed feelings. I guess im just tired is all. I was on the liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to the surgery and lost 15lbs but have'nt lost any additional weight since then?

Hello fellow Texans..... I am in Tyler. Just registered here. I go Dec. 26 for my orientation. I'd really like to have this done on Spring Break. Think I could get back to teaching in one week? I really think I can. I am excited about this new adventure. MERRY CHRISTMAS to Y'all...

If you can arrange to have it done on the Friday before spring break, the nine days off should be enough to get back to work. I had my surgery on a Tuesday, and by the following Monday, I was ready to go back.

I'm From The Houston Area. Banded 7/16/07. Down 108 Lbs. My 1st Goal Was 100 Lbs. By The End Of The Year ....praise God , Goal One Is History..again Welcome.

Wow Rattler!!! That's amazing! You must be very happy!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
