Im almost a year in from my surgery and lost 100 pounds almost.

Anyone experience feeling cold all the time? I’ve never had this issue before surgery. My surgeon says my vitals are normal.

It’s 75 outside and I’m freezing in my apartment.

Yep. I'm always freezing.

Invest in layering and thermal clothing.

Handwarmers are nice, I put them in my boots during the winter too.

Yes its a thing. My fat coat insulated me so well and I never realised it. I wear so many layers now. My poor suffering husband sits in his boxers in the lounge and I huddle under a blanket. I had a Amazon delivery yesterday and when I opened my front door the guy laughed and said ' Wow you live in a green house '

If I guess the English weather wrong, I get so cold I feel ill. We really can have all four seasons in a day.

Strangely, if I over eat I also begin to shiver

yes - it's super common. For some it's temporary, for others, it's permanent.

Still a huge thing for me 2.5 years on. I feel cold almost all the time. I wear 2 layers outdoors in summer (Ireland though - it's not ever properly warm here), 4 layers indoors and probably 6 outdoors in winter.

Doctor says it’s in normal range. I’m taking Iron + B12 supps and it hasn’t helped.

I am wearing socks at home. I never used to wear socks to sleep but it’s a must now. I can’t seem to keep warm.

Almost 5 years out and I still feel cold. Was just at my beauty therapist & had a blanket wrapped around me while I had a pedicure. Bbrrr!

Simply it’s because you’re losing your insulation. Plus your body doesn’t run as hot as it did when functioning at your higher weight. Some people acclimatise eventually others, like me, don’t.

I keep a coat in my car for emergencies & try to dress according to where I’m going or what I’m doing.

I’m almost 5 years out as well and am still cold all the time. I get teased at work about all the layers I wear. I have a heated throw blanket at home that I use whenever I’m reading or watching TV and have a heated mattress pad on my bed.

Socks at night are a must-have! This will be my first summer post-op, and I can already tell that I will be in long sleeves and pants more often than not.

Yesss! Could not survive without my electric blanket in bed. I keep it on low all night, other than on the warmest nights (we have very few here ,LOL).

Same.. I am 14 months out. And being cold all the time is not fun. I'm still trying to figure out how to work around this. I was told that my insulation is gone with all my fat stores gone. But that doesn't help when it is bitterly cold out... lol It's spring now, but the weather in NYC is iffy. So if it's about 80 degrees like it was last Monday then I can manage. Winter was miserable and so far Spring has been meh. I would like to know what can you do. I am stumped drinking Hot Drinks and layers don't help as much.

5+ years out.

i do run colder than most people around me, but not nearly the level of cold i felt the first couple years after surgery. i slept with socks, a hoodie (the the hood ON), and a down comforter...while Mr. was just in shorts and no blanket.

i couldn't even wear a tank top IN SUMMER for long without having to slip on a sweater or jacket i took with me everywhere.

ugh and the freezer aisle in the supermarket was my personal hell.

now its not as bad and i can actually wear season-appropriate clothing alot of the time lol.

and/but i never sweat anymore in public...unless im at the gym or running, but even then, its like a spritz of sweat vs the pouring dripping waterfalls of sweat Water i used to produce from the slightest but of physical effort, like going up the stairs or just existing on a warm day.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
