how is everyone handling the daily meal for your significant others? Today my husband called me at work and asked mento pick him up pizza on my way home!!!! Rude… but he does need to eat and i dont want to cook. Lol.

My boyfriend is just cooking for himself, but it is really weird to not eat with him at dinner time & also seeing him eat and thinking "I really wanna smack you right now" 😂

Cross your fingers that they don't have to fix a hiatal hernia during the operation. They'll do it if it needs doing but watch out, it will give you intermittent pain in your midsection. Woke me up twice last night until they gave me the good stuff. Docs say it shouldn't be a problem in a few days.

To all my May surgery brothers and sisters, just remember one thing.

They don't have many bariatric beds in nursing homes, because they don't need them!!

We got this!!

Well surgery went good today, went in any 11:30, woke at 3:30 got in room at 4:15. Doctor says surgery went very good. I have 7 incisions, been sipping Water, and nodding out from pain meds. All in all, not as bad as I thought 💭 it would have been. Thanks to all the comment and do's and don'ts I've learned, being here on this page 📟 with the pre experiences from ppl here. I'm literally patient of the day, here on the gastric floor. Wanna thank everyone for the helpful information ℹ️ on the surgery. Now looking to further my education in the next stages of the eating process. The do's the don'ts, the can and can't have, and the how to's.

Surgery 05/07/2024

Me, too. See you on the other side!

Start my two days of Clear Liquids tomorrow and my control freak side is really coming out. I hate not knowing what is going to happen, so I overthink and overplan. I tasted the Ensure Pre-surgery drink, and boy, is that not my favorite thing. Sooo sweet and fake strawberry-y. I am just planning to get it as cold as possible and chugging it.

I'm liking the Protien2o Water.

Is it easier to drink than normal Water? Honestly unless it has a powder mix in it, I’m not drinking it.

Well, the liver prep diet is finished. Clear Liquids tomorrow and surgery Monday morning. I made it this far. It wasn't real fun, but not the most terrible thing in the world. Good luck to everyone with surgery later this month!

Hello just looking for some encouragement my surgery is scheduled for May 20th I started my liquid diet today I am both scared and anxious thanks for the add

Heya! I completely get the nerves - I am definitely feeling it too! It is only natural to feel that way, it is a big step we are taking :)

I started my pre-op diet on the 30th May, so I am almost a week in. The first 2-3 days were really hard, I won't like. Cravings were biting my ass, and the pressure headaches were unreal. That being said, it does pass, and then it is pretty manageable. I don't feel like I am struggling as much at the moment!

You got this!

Hi, I'm having VSG surgery on May 15th. I'm not so much nervous but ready to have the surgery. I've read, watched videos and talked to friends who've had the surgery. Today is day one of my pre-op diet and I'm struggling. It's kicking my butt, only Protein Shakes, Water, sugar free Jello, sugar free Popsicles. Is anyone else on the struggle bus? I'm bringing very little to the hospital, light robe, sandals and a little skin care. I'm most anxious about the gas pain but I've had 3 c-sections and I walked an hour after each one so I know I can do it. I'm excited to begin this journey and get healthier for myself and my family. Wishing everyone the best of luck with the pre-op, recovery and healing. We can do it!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
