I'm so jealous. I also had surgery 1/24 and have lost 7 pounds. One of the reasons I did the VSG was because when I would try to lose weight, it would come off so slowly---like it would take maybe 6 weeks to lose 5 pounds. It took me 8 months to lose 30 lbs and that was with Qsymia and eating about 1000 calories a day. I would get so frustrated and just give up, I'd go back to my regular diet (which wasn't crazy--usually 1500 - 1800 calories a day) and everything I'd lost would come back. Now, given my usual speed of weight loss, 7 pounds in 9 days is great. But on this liquid diet where I'm getting 300 400 calories a day max, I thought I'd lose more quickly. I was hoping for at least 10-12 lbs by now. Still, I'm happy that I've done this; it's going well and I know that I will succeed. I was just hoping for it to be quicker!

I was the same, first week was 3kg

Ive been told by a physician who I work with that no more than 2kg a week is good moving forward is a great goal as it means your body won’t go into the natural starvation mode and try to hold onto the weight. Plus your body is doing it slowly which is good re rapid weight loss problems also.

I also felt sad about how slow it is going but we will get there :) I’m 3 weeks post op and I’ve only been loosing 1.3kg a week roughly.

My doctor is very kind and when I get emotional today he said that he wants me to remember how I felt seeing that number today. And that as long as it always goes down, one pound is a win. And he is right. We all get so wrapped up in the number rather than the feeling of all we have accomplished. The fact that all of us here worked so hard to get surgery and now are on this rollercoaster journey, only shows our strength. You’re doing amazing and know you will continue to! 1,5,7,18 etc…it’s all weight we no longer have to carry ever again ?

Anyone else having unbelievable cravings. I want pizza soooo bad. I think I’m sick and tired of being on this liquid diet and all I want to do is taste some of the sauce. Anything is better than limited liquids. I’m 9 days post op and hopefully next week I’ll be able to transition to puree.

Sounds about right , I went there the same mind hunger, its normal, you have to just push through and when your able to make healthier swaps for those foods you will enjoy it more. I am only 16 days post op and I cook all the delicious foods for my family, I have to smell those burgers they eat and last night we went to a steak house for my hubby, I had to smell it all and just understand its not for me right now. Hang in there friend. ☺️

10 days post op and I decided to go with my BF to do the grocery shopping. I figured the walking would be good. Half way through, I started to feel nauseous. I think it was all the smells from going up and down the isles. I went to sit in the car and just being outside with the breeze helped subside the feeling. Anyone else have issues like this?

Hi there,

i’m 25 days post op and had a horrible bout of nausea yesterday. Completely out of the blue, I was out walking, stopped for a cup of weak black tea which I drank sitting outside in a bracing wind, when I stood up, it came over me like a wave. Horrid.
At 10 days post op I’d had a couple bouts of nausea, mostly at night, when asleep, and they would waken me up. Treatments from my surgeon include a nightly cyclizine, stemitil wafers and a morning lanzoprazole. I was surprised to feel nauseated yesterday, cause it had been a couple weeks since the last bout.
hopefully it will become even less frequent??
well done on going out yesterday. It’s good to get moving.

Sounds like low blood pressure, I get that way if I shower with too hot of water. Are you getting in 64oz of water a day?

That first week is the worse for some reason our brains want all the old food we used to eat all the time. Stay strong.

I will be 3 weeks this Thursday, it gets better once you get into soft foods. Take it one day at a time, you will reach the point of yummy food again.

Today marks 3 weeks post op for me, I just had soft chicken pho, not with all the noodles and Ive had no issues. Anyone else try Pho or soups with chicken yet?

I had surgery 1/24 and this morning was my first post op appt (9 days). I lost 18 pounds! Like, WHAT!? It’s not even 2 weeks. I was so shocked I wasn’t even emotional. Today, I am celebrating me for doing this.
