Hi! Anyone else scheduled for surgery in July of 2023? Let's talk!

How are you? How's your process going? What are you excited about for the future? What are you enjoying now? How are you talking about the upcoming surgery with family and friends? What supports have been helpful to you?

Had my surgery on July 25 and I’m hungry all the time
I had gastric bypass on July 17th. I wish it did it sooner! Feeling great

hey everyone! i love reading about everyone’s journey and i hope youre all feeling well today ? it’s been a month since my surgery (july 3) already! i can’t believe it’s gone by so fast. no complaints thankfully everything has been going as smoothly as possible. noticing a little stall now but i’m not mad about it it’s all part of the process. one huge victory for me is i’m finally done with the blood thinner shots !! lol

Hi everyone

I hope you all had successful surgeries in the month of July.

So I ended up spending 4.5 weeks in hospital and was only allowed home on Thursday. 3.5 weeks was due to severe pancreatis and then the last week I had a blood infection from the central line in my arm. Over the course of time there I had 5 central line fitted as they had to keep changing arm.

I'm finding it very difficult as the pancreatis has me exhausted where doing the smallest thing, like brushing my teeth, leaves me clamy and feeling like I could pass out. Even this message was really tiring to do.

I can't eat or drink a lot, no appetite and feel nauseous a lot of the time. I'm not sure if this is Sleeve or pancreas related. Today I was retching for a while after a few sips of a protein shake. I've no interest in thinking of what to eat or preparing anything.

So far I've lost 12kg /26lb but not sure that's good quality considering I'm eating so little.

I have a check up in the hospital next week so hopefully may get so me answers.

Hey July buddies!
Well I’m exactly one month passed my July 6th Gastric Sleeve. Hope everyone is doing well! I’m reporting 25 lbs down this morning very happy for the first month!

No Stalls, yet. Only eating around 1000 calories a day, but burning more than 3600 every day. Lots of walking, can’t wait till the doctor says I can lift heavy weights again, my checkup is next week.

Can't get rid of the quote boxes

I am back in hospital again. I collapsed on the nurse when she came for her morning check up on Monday morning so she called me an ambulance. Had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics plus a leak from pancreas in to stomach area. Two clips applied and I'm now on a feeding tube for a week.

This has all been hell.

Hi! Newbie here. I had the sleeve done on 7/13. Since then, I’m only down about 20lbs. I haven’t had a lot of problem with nausea or vomiting but there are times when I eat, I feel it slide down, it’s painful. I don’t believe I am overeating bc I’m too scared that I’m going to gain weight. But I’m hoping once I start exercising more, the weight will come off. I seem to have hit a plateau.

3 week post op update- I'm down 8 lb since my surgery 7/20

I was hoping for more, but I gained about 9 lb during surgery and the day after from all of the IV fluids. To be fair, I've never lost more than a pound or so per week, so this is still really good. I would love to lose 20 lb a month, but I'm ok with a consistent 2 lb per week.

I've been working with my nutritionist and weighing myself daily to track trends. It also helps me catch things quickly and readjust. I started eating ginger chews after surgery to help with nausea and realized I was going a little too ham on them! (That's how I got here in the first place) So even though there are natural fluctuations, daily weight and food tracking has been a powerful tool for my nutritionist and I.

Hi surgery twin. I am loosing weight so slow since surgery. My weight constantly fluctuates. I haven’t lost 20 since surgery so you are doing good. I also feel the food slide down sometimes. When this happens, I take smaller bites and chew more. I literally track everything. I’m going to try walking more also to see if that helps. I weight in weekly and It’s so defeating not to see the scale move.

20lbs in four weeks is great. You should be celebrating it. Remeber, everyone is different but keep at it and it will come

Oh dear. I'm so sorry you're having such a rough go of things! ?

Had my surgery on July 12th, its been a month , I'm down 21 pounds, feeling good no complications, only issue is finding ideas for what to eat, i am bored with everything, i use the protein shots they are a big help with meeting protein goals.

I agree with you completely. I’m trying hard to look at keep focused but I’m worried anyway. How’s your journey been otherwise?

thank you for your reply. I’m excited to hit the 6week mark so I can start exercising more. I love walking but I don’t think it’s enough. It’s been very hot here so I haven’t gone out every day like I want to.
