Overall well I’m a bit lost though I can’t find after care I went to Mexico for surgery and lack home follow up

I also had surgery in Mexico. All you need to do is to get a bariatric specialist on your health care to do follow-up. The bariatric facilities in Mexico should also be following up with you.

What Mexican facilities did you use?

Anyone having any issues with stress affecting them during recovery? I lost my grandfather a few months before surgery and my aunts and uncle have been an absolute nightmare for my relationship with my grandma. I’m doing my best to help her out as much as possible and make sure her transition is good, but they are all trying to say I’m too involved while they’re trying to milk out their inheritances before she’s gone. It’s ridiculous how greedy they all are, and how she doesn’t see it. Lucky they aren’t my kids or I’d give everything to a charity with the way they’re acting. The only involvement I have had is bringing her food, and helping her clean up some of the rooms in her house, my grandfather was a hoarder. I haven’t taken anything, including money even when she tries to pay for things like storage totes or the food I bring, so it’s pretty ridiculous…not totally sure how to handle it but I’m feeling pretty crappy and she’s been parroting the crap the aunts have said about me which is all nonsense, although venting does help a bit lol

Nothing like a death to bring out the worst in people! I'm sorry for your loss and you're awesome for stepping up to help her. My last Grandparent, my maternal Grandmother passed a few months ago also. Thankfully my Mum and her 2 living siblings have been on the same page.

Take time to breathe and let the stress go. Keep reminding yourself 9f y9ur worth and don't let the BS get to you too much.

Good advice, I’m doing my best to keep things from getting to me but like you said, seeing people get greedy and the crap they are trying to pull is insane…

I weighed in this morning and am down another 2.3 kilograms (5 pounds). In pounds it puts me under 300. Pretty much a quarter of the way to my first weight loss goal now.

Hope everyone's having a great day.

So those of you who had surgeries in May. How’s it going on for all? I am having the dreaded 3 week stall started like a clock work exactly on the first day of my third week. I am trying to not get caught up with the numbers on the scale and following my docs plan.

My surgery was May 1 and I've stalled twice. It happens. Just keep doing what you're doing and it'll eventually break. With that said, I've lost 45lbs since the start of my pre-op diet on April 17th. That, to me, is pretty good considering two of those weeks I didn't lose anything. Trust the process.

Does anyone else have anxiety when they eat? Sometimes I eat too fast and I’m always worried that I’m going to stretch my sleeve. I know it’s probably not realistic.

I'm more worried about calories, Protein, and liquid. I obsess over making my goals each day. It's getting to be a bit much. The thought of dumping also gives me a ton of anxiety.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
