What do you guys do when you feel gross. Idk how to explain it. Like I met my Protein and liquid goals today. I go potty everyday. But the last 2 nights I felt yuck. Last night I woke up in the middle of the night and had to take Pepto. But I don’t want always take meds. Never been a fan of a lot of medications. I used to drink ginger ale. Obviously can’t do that anymore.

I usually take Zofran. Or maybe you have a bug and it's not surgery related.

I thought the same Thing but it’s only happening at night. So I wonder if it was something I ate. Last night I was better.

I started tracking what I ate and how i felt so that I could try to correlate what drives me feeling bad. I think it is whey Protein concentrate (not isolate). But I still have more testing to do. I would suggest keeping a little journal like that so that you can look bad and see if a certain food/ingredient is the issue.

Yes I actually do this already. And I did eat the same thing two days in a row for dinner. We will keep seeing what works and what doesn’t.

What cheese sauce were you allowed to have? I feel as though mashed potato is the only thing I’ll be eating. Did you buy the pre made potato or did you mash your own?

Just mashed at home, no butter or milk, just a bit of stock. The cheese sauce was from a packet and lasted me about 4 serves. TBH I won't have it now, but that stage was just about getting food in. You could just stir a good Protein cheese in the mash if you wanted cheese. I've got a good low fat cheese now that's 7 grams of protein per 25 gram serve. I love cheese! Haven't opened it yet though, my intention is to use it mostly for Snacks and I find 3 meals filling.

Guys I am at week 5 and I am still stalled I don’t know what I am doing wrong!!! I am a total of 45 pounds down and have been stuck at 359/360 for 2 and a half weeks. I exercise everyday walk or swim. I am hitting Water and Protein goal trying to get my calories to at least 700 in that process but happier if they go over since they want me close to 1000 I don’t know what else to do. I have been pretty good at not weighing my self everyday now but still!!!! How long did your three week stall last

Hang in there Allison! Mine broke around 2.5 weeks. It hopefully happens soon for you. Look what you have lost, phenomenal!

Oh I sympathise! I had to take Quick Eze a few times the past 24 hours, so much pain with reflux. I've gone back on my Rabeprazole my surgeon prescribed me. I'm not sure one small dosage a day will be enough, so might have to contact my surgeon to discuss it. Or not, hoping taking it each morning helps stave it off. It works by neutralising stomach acid. Did you grt a reflux prescription? Grab one if it keeps up. It's horrid.

I have a 6 month prescription for Prilosec My surgeon has me taking one everyday in the morning. It wasn’t anything reflex though. More like sour tummy. But I’ve established it’s what I ate. I don’t have issues with heart burn or anything like that.

I think there is a section dedicated to surgery out of county. Maybe ask your question there. I'm sure there are people on here that could help.

What sort of after care are you needing? I am 1 month out (as of today) and I have been back to my doctor once for just a quick check up. The only thing I have needed since surgery was a refill on my antacid prescription. I have another visit next week, but it is just a nutrition class. Hopefully you aren't having any complications (as that would require an actual doctor), but if you have any questions, or feel like you don't have info on any subject, feel free to ask away here. I am happy to relay things my doctor/nurses have told me and I am sure others would be as well.

Anyone having any issues with stress affecting them during recovery? I lost my grandfather a few months before surgery and my aunts and uncle have been an absolute nightmare for my relationship with my grandma. I’m doing my best to help her out as much as possible and make sure her transition is good, but they are all trying to say I’m too involved while they’re trying to milk out their inheritances before she’s gone. It’s ridiculous how greedy they all are, and how she doesn’t see it. Lucky they aren’t my kids or I’d give everything to a charity with the way they’re acting. The only involvement I have had is bringing her food, and helping her clean up some of the rooms in her house, my grandfather was a hoarder. I haven’t taken anything, including money even when she tries to pay for things like storage totes or the food I bring, so it’s pretty ridiculous…not totally sure how to handle it but I’m feeling pretty crappy and she’s been parroting the crap the aunts have said about me which is all nonsense, although venting does help a bit lol

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
