Svet , that is awesome, mine is scheduled for May 24. Good luck to you!

Hey, nice to meet you! Good luck to you too! I just came back from my dietician appointment, where I was told to start my preop diet today. I'm trying to choose Vitamins and Protein Shakes, that hopefully will be tolerable, because so far everything I've tried tasted really bad. Anything you found and liked?

That's a lot to deal with. Only you can answer that question. Think about why you started this journey in the first place. Everything will work out. Best.

Why do they cancel surgery?

Great job and I know what you mean about the mind tricking you into wanting to eat. During the next few days they want me to drink 1oz of liquid every 15 minutes. This is to prepare for after surgery. I find this very difficult! Seems I am sipping from a 1oz med cup constantly. Anyone else have problems with this? Surgery next Monday 5/15

Thanks!

The sipping never stops. Or at least that's how it feels at the moment. I know one day it'll be more normal.

Best of luck on your surgery next week.

I guess it could be a number of things. My original surgery date was canceled because they overbooked the OR. It could be blood work or other test. Doctor schedule. Insurance. Who knows. If you're doing what your supposed to and Insurance is cleared, I wouldn't worry too much.

I was out of surgery about 8 hours ago and have been feeling relatively well. My pain from gas is actually in my shoulder and neck. Very little in my abdomen so far - or the pain meds are covering any pain there. Surprisingly, the doctors took care of a small hernia in my esophagus too - I’ll find out more tomorrow or when the notes upload to my E chart. So far I have been able to consume 6oz each of veg broth, beef broth, Water, and Protein water. Trying the Jello now, verrry slowly - now I understand being able to eat only very little bites of something that is two ounces.

Leaving the hospital now. No nausea at all and I am able to meet my diet requirements.
The hernia was repaired with one stitch, and I was told there would be some inflammation there for a bit - so it does hurt a bit when I swallow larger pills.

I hope everyone who had surgery yesterday or last week is doing well.

Hey y’all hey, just joined the group but so excited to have people to talk to about my experience vs. their experience through this process. I started my liquid diet on April 23, 2023 and had gastric bypass surgery May 3, 2023. So today I’m one week post-op and had eggs for Breakfast. Hardest thing so far is getting 64oz of Fluid in a day but that god we can could all liquids🤣😂

I had my surgery last week, no issues so far. A lot of my stomach had sucked into my hiatal hernia along with a lot of scar tissue. I feel 100 times better already.

May 11th! Tomorrow is the day.
Duodenal Switch. What is everybody having?

I don't have any friends or know anybody else who has had Bariatric surgery before.
I would love to connect and add a few people on here to connect with. I know a support group makes a big difference. Please add me and I will add you back if you see this. 🙂

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
