How long did it take your surgeons office to submit to insurance???

My last nutritionist appointment was 23 days ago. I recieved a surgery date of October 6th, and I was under the assumption my paperwork would be submitted that week. I called the surgeons office today for an update and she said they will submit closer to the surgery date, "in about two weeks". Is this a normal time frame? I get more approval anxiety by the day! My pre-op EKG and labs appointment is scheduled for September 12th but they're not even submitting my claim until around that time? My patience is running low ???

I'm not sure there is any "normal" for this. My team took about a month to submit for approval and wouldn't even schedule the surgery until we had the approval back.

That sounds about right. Actually I scheduled my surgery (aug 16th) at my July 21st appointment. And it was like 7-12 days before my surgery that I saw a paper approval for the surgery. These prog

I kept calling my surgeons office last week for updates and they continued to give me the same excuse that my case is still "pending"... BUT after calling Blue Cross on Friday they explained that my surgeons office had to resubmit my case because they didn't add the codes for surgery the first time!!!! This made me so upset because no one at the office bothered to inform me of that. I reached back out to the office and the coordinator said she is requesting BCBS mark my case as urgent now. We're down to the wire (surgery is in 8 days!) And I could use all the well wishes and fingers crossed that I get approved on time ?

Hoping it goes well! If they submitted it then you should hear back within 72 hours if it’s classified as urgent.

I got the call this morning, I'm approved!!!!!! Woooo!!! Never felt a bigger sigh of relief in my entire life. ?

Mine was pretty quick. I guess submittal goes in depending on insurance (at my clinic). I got my date, but did not get the approval until I had my final surgical date (2 weeks before surgery). They told me that sometimes the insurance doesn't send confirmation until 7 days before. I received my confirmation about 10 days out.
