Can you feel your band?

Recommended Posts

Let me rephrase. Can you feel your band with your hand from the outside like I can?

Yes, I was initially told it would go away but I can feel it distinctively on my ribs and have confirmed that it is the port. Not only can I feel it but it sticks out when I stand up. I am going to have it moved when I lose more weight.

You are feeling your port. I can feel mine too. When I lay down sometimes it pooches out. Doesn't bother me at all.

Wow, the esophogas and stomach are supposed to be innards...meaning inches from the surface. You have to go thru skin, adipose tissue, etc well before you reach the band. So to feel it.... I just don't know...and see it under the skin makes me think you are a toothpick.

Hope you get answers to these as I am clueless.

I am confused. You mean the BAND, or your PORT. The band is around your stomach, as Grace put it, several inches in. I'd have to press pretty dang hard to feel it.

But my PORT, yes, I can feel it. Everyday when I get up and get ready for work, it's comforting to me to feel my port and see how much it's sticking out that day. I have no idea why. But it is kind of cool and it reaffirms that they really DID put something in there. LOL

At my house, the fact that I have a port and a band makes me the "Bionic Woman". Or the Alien Borg...... Go figure......

I can't feel my band with my hand, but occasionally, for some reason I can feel it pressing on my ribs. It can get uncomfortable. My port is just to the left of my belly button. I have to suck in to be able to feel it good. I can feel it better in the morning. So wierd.

OH...... the port.....sorry.

Yes, I can...when I touch the area. My port is positioned...about an inch below my rib...about 2 inches from the center of my abdomen.

Feels like a tiny, tiny baby.

I thought I was feeling my band too. I felt a lumpy thing right in the center of my ribs. (Not my port...that's farther down and to the right.) Anyway, I asked my doc about it and he snickered and said that it's definately not my band because the band is too far inside to feel from the outside. I guess as we lose weight we just start feeling parts on our body that we haven't felt for a long time!!!!! I can actually feel ribs and my hip bones too and I haven't been able to do so since childhood!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
