All those who get stuck shoveling snow....a question

Recommended Posts

I'm in NJ and we had a very wet icy snow last night...not that much (maybe 2 inches), but very heavy... Dh went outside to shovel and was complaining that it really hurt his port....Does this happen to anyone else???

Thanks!

Happy snow to everyone!

My port feels sore if I do exercise that involves my abdominal muscles. Actually, my port feels sore a lot but more if I have used my abs. You DH must have just been using them while he was shoveling.

I just finished shoveling 2 feet of snow! I'm sore ALL over but my port doesn't bother me.

Snow? What's that? I believe I heard of it once.

I have my windows open, the birds are singing, the weather is nice. I haven't a clue what you people are talking about.

Bitch.

I actually shoveled snow about a week after my surgery. Yeah stupid, I know but no one else was gonna do it. I have not had any port pain while doing so even this morning digging out of nearly a foot of snow that fell last night.

You know, Darl'en, I do believe that cold, wintery, chilly, snow ridden, unhealthy, freezing your butt off kind of weather is affecting your mood.

Have you considered a nice bright lamp with one of those light bulbs that makes your brain think you actually have sunshine? Might improve your ... disposition a bit. At least the winter side of yer "mood".

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Damn sun lamps just don't do it for me anymore lol. I did actually see blue sky for about 1.5 minutes this afternoon.

But hey the kiddies had a great time playing in the snow and I taught myself how to use the newly fixed snowblower, thus ending my shoveling days permanantly.

Rain:

I was shoveling on Thursday (about 7 inches of dry, powdery snow), and again today (about five inches of very heavy snow after freezing rain on top) and my port is fine. My lower back is another story.

Winter in New England!

If you call me I'll hold the phone out the window so you can get REAL sunshine. Anything to help a fellow fattie.

Heh....

Today I shovelled 4 times,

We had a total of 30 cm or 12 inches here (just west of Toronto, on the shores of Lake Ontario). I had no port pain, but I hope the shovelling counts as a workout because my gym was closed today due to the snowstorm.

I love the snow. ;) I feel sad for you that you don't have any, Wasa. LOL I'm not kidding. I work in a ski town. There are easily 2 feet of snow sitting around that built up over several days. I think this is the same storm that headed east. But I do wish we had more snow down by our house. Sadly it's only a couple inches. ;) I didn't shovel it - I still don't know who did because I don't think it was DH.

I know all about snow. I was born in Iowa. I didn't move to AZ until I was in my 20s. I don't miss it, I don't like it, I hate shoveling the stuff, there is nothing nice about snow, chapped lips, a runny nose, layers of clothing... nope, not for me!

My lemon tree is about ready to produce lemons. They are pretty well grown, now they need to become ripe before it freezes outside. I haven't had fresh lemons in three years due to our weather.

I purposely searched for a place where it never snows. I left Chicago when I was 21 for the Oregon coast. It has snowed here

3 times in the last 30 years since I moved here. I don't miss

it at all. I hope I never see snow again.

I have to admit I dislike the cold much more now that I am thinner. It is amazing what a loss of insulation will do for you. I used to hate summer and now I wish it were here.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
