June 21st Peeps

Good morning!

How are you doing with your pre-op liver shrinking diets?
I started mine a day early, I was so excited. (Yes, I'm a wierdo.) So today is officially day 7 for me! I have lost just shy of 10lbs, and managed to not cheat. I won't say it is easy, since I gave up Diet Coke after almost 30 years, and I am working on weaning off caffeine, which is my biggest hurdle. I go for my pre-op testing on Wednesday and then it's just shy of a week until surgery day, YAY!

So what are your accomplishments and struggles so far?

Hi everyone,

it's almost time! I'm excited, but exhausted. I think the liquid diet has got to be causing me some fatigue, despite consuming plenty of protein. Although I have not slept 1 good night since beginning the liquid diet, so maybe that is contributing to the tiredness.

Everyone holding steady and still on course for the 21st?

How did your pre-op go? Are you getting nervous? Excited?

It went well, thank you! All my paperwork, and my blood work is done. I’m stocked up on everything I think I could possibly need at home. Now I’m going through the house and doing a big deep clean. I’m neither excited or nervous yet…. I almost feel like it won’t happen! I finished all my pre op things back on November 3rd but covid shut down my center and I was told that my surgery would be this month, then next month so many times that it doesn’t feel real! Haha! If you believe in prayer will you say one for me and my surgery that things so well?

Not sure about the COVID results yet. They take 24-48 hours. I just got the call with my time for surgery. 8:30am Monday.

June 21st here! Its starting to get real, tomorrow we leave for our hotel since my surgery is out of town. Got my covid test done and neg results, so all good to go! Today is the last day of solid food for a while. Tomorrow only liquid. Feeling a little emotional but I know its for the best. For anyone reading this... Please keep me in your prayers, surgeries havent always gone well for me in the past and I'm trying to stay positive. ?

Today’s the day! Hope everything goes well for you!

My VSG was yesterday morning. Went perfectly well. I was pretty groggy yesterday but walked around the hallways a few times and hit my water goal. Gas pain has been reasonable. My ox-sat is low so I am on oxygen right now. Will go home later!
My VSG revision to GBP went smoothly. Arrived at 8:45 am and went home at 6 pm. I was happy not to stay overnight because it’s hard to sleep and every time you do sleep, the nurses want to wake you up. Unfortunately sleeping at home wasn’t much better. I couldn’t get comfortable. Pain is tolerable, more uncomfortable. Gas seems barely there. I was able to belch a bunch before I left to hospital. Goal today is to get my liquids in.

Hope everyone is else is doing well.

How was your surgery? How are you feeling today?

I don't have my surgery till July 27th. However, I see where you might have thought that lol. I meant that "today was the day" for you ?. Sorry for the confusion, but thank you for asking!

I'm so glad to hear everything went well! Hopefully, you don't have too much discomfort.

? thats funny. And your welcome hahah.

Sorry missed this topic until now. I was a June 21 peep. Sleeve - went very well. Surgery at 11a. Took my first walk around 5p. Was able to stop being dizzy and drop the walker after a few steps. Go discharged yesterday around 2:30p. Sleep went really well. Pain is very tolerable without pain killers. Feeling very lucky. But following all the eating, walking, etc. instructions to the letter.

How's everyone doing so far? Today is full liquid day for me and I'm tolerating my shakes pretty well. I added miralax to my shake this morning to make sure I dont get bound up from the protein. So far so good, the restriction is real so baby steps, still having a hard time getting 64 oz of water daily...... Other than that I found mio drops + caffeine and B12, my program allows small amounts of caffeine daily, so I've been putting 1 drop of mio into a medicine cup mixed with water and that really gets me going in the morning. Its crazy how such small amounts hit me now.
