Are the Carnation Breakfast and Frosted Flakes drinks sugar free? I've never seen those brands sugar free! Or are you allowed to have sugar on your liquid diet?

No they have sugar and the shakes the bariatric center provided also have sugar. They said sugar is fine on the pre op liquid diet. Just not more than the shakes have.

Wow, we were told to avoid carbs during pre-op to shrink the liver. We were allowed to have solid food, but no carbs/sugar. It's so ridiculous how different surgery centers have completely different plans.

So the funny part is we were told specifically not to avoid carbs. That we should not use Premier Protein or fairlife because those have almost no carbs. After surgery then to avoid sugar and carbs. This picture was part of the pre op class we had to take.

So what Protein Shakes does your team recommend after surgery? The same ones or lower carb/higher Protein shakes?

correct. Premier Protein, fairlife and as for mixing my own they said to use Isopure Isolate Protein Powder that the isolate absorbs better. Its currently 12:30pm and i am starving lol and this is only day 1 ugh... I need a punching bag to get thru these two weeks lol

It gets easier. After a few days your body adapts to fewer calories. My first pre op diet was the most difficult, the second one was easier. I'll let you know how the third goes in a few weeks, lol.

I am a Keto diet veteran (for my sins lol) and have an electronic blood sugar meter at home. And I eat carbs pre and post op and I'm still in ketosis. Reality is, on a VLC diet you're likely to be in liver shrinking ketosis no matter how much of your diet is composed of carbs. A bottle of that Kellogg's stuff is 41g carbs of which 15g sugars. I mean the second ingredient is glucose Syrup so I wouldn't make it a lifestyle choice but even so, you'll still shrink your liver with 2 of those a day.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
