My weight is also dropping slowly. I had my surgery on May 18 and did a 3-week pre-op diet before that. But I have only lost a total of around 32lbs in 7 weeks. I am not too disappointed though because I have an extremely stubborn body in terms of weight loss. In the past when I went on a diet, no matter how strict I was and how hard I exercised I would not lose weight AT ALL. So at least this slow pace is definitely better than nothing. I will take whatever speed weight loss I can get.

I am the same way. I will welcome any loss after years of walking/running 4-5 miles a day and never losing an ounce. I am already so thrilled at how different I feel just from the hernia repair. 2/3 of my stomach was in my chest for probably 15 years and I didn’t know. Today I’m 4 days post op and I am amazed at this feeling of calm that I haven’t experienced in forever. I wonder if it’s because things are back in place where they should be.

Milk of magnesia works well for me when I get constipated. I recommend the cherry flavor. I hear the original does NOT taste good.

I have to chase the cherry with Gatorade too, neither taste good!

So I’m in the beginning of week three and I have not lost any weight all week. I’m also constipated. I’m down a total of 28lbs since the preop liquid diet. I started at 249lbs and I’m now 221lbs. What are you taking for constipation? How long is the stall period?

Over the counter stool softener Colace. If it's really bad senna. You can get senna plus it has colace in it. Senna is a laxative. I normally never constipated, but the increase of Protein caused a problem, I now take colace daily and if it gets bad I add the senna. I was not drinking enough fluids . Walking and increasing my Fluid intake it's helped. BTW I am week 4. I lost 10lbs the first 2 weeks, nothing of 10 days. They say that we lose Water first then as we increase our fluids we are losing inches even though it appears we are not losing weight. I have increased my walking. I have changed up my intake. I don't if that helped or just time as my body adjusted but I lost 4 oz for 3 days in a row then 1lb. It's not much lost 2lbs in 4 days but it's something.

Slow weight loss here too. 12.5g loss over 7 weeks but not too fussed about it. It's all downwards.

Oh yeah. Same place here. Surgery on the 24th. Actually gained half a pound right at the beginning of week 3. Not worried, supposed to be normal Water gain as the body restores glycogen that it burnt through when we started very-low-calorie living.

I started pureed yesterday. lunch was tuna salad. It set well. dinner, I pureed the taco meat, cheese, salsa and sour cream from the family's dinner. That didn't do so well. Didn't like the texture and it felt like a rock in my gut.

All we can do is one day at a time. Keep on.

Well I vomited first time this week then 2 more times different days. It was fat free Cottege cheese once and can’t remember the other but I learned that even a couple tablespoons can make you vomit if it’s too much for your tummy and it says noooo more so stop half way before feeling your done eating is the trick for me.

yesterday I was hungry for some reason a few times during the day so bites here and there and that worked.

the scale started to move ounces down at a time each day again. I’m happy with my progress going down now. Feel like I could be further ahead with the stages but week four and still feel like I should only eat puréed. Tummy hates me. Bored with ninja. Send help. SOS. LOL

Oh no! I met the limit of my pouch two days ago eating too much ricotta bake too fast. I felt for a few minutes that I was going to vomit. That passed and I didn't.

That sure does remind you and keep you in check.

How are you doing?

I’m still having a hard time getting all of my Water in. Sometimes I drink too fast and feel like vomiting. Sometimes I feel like I have heartburn. I’ve been moved to the purée part, but I still feel like I can’t really eat anything other than thick Soup or blended fish/chicken chunks.
I feel like I’m not following the program well enough and I’m frustrated.

I've been taking Miralax and within a couple of days I've been passing, it's a temporary solution but I think once we're on solids we'll be good. I heard of the 3 week stall, and Ive also heard that its normal and isn't something we should worry about. Stay strong!

I was just looking for this topic. I had revision surgery on May 9, and I was losing at a nice pace, and then suddenly I can’t get past 20 pounds. I realized last week that I hadn’t had a bowel movement in a little bit, so I started taking Colace. It started feeling like it was coming, so I tried straining. It started coming out and got stuck. I was in immense pain! I was sweating and breathing heavy. I didn’t know what else to do, so I called 911. At the hospital they offered me a couple of options. I asked if they could give me an enema at the hospital, wait a bit, and then do some “drilling.” Oh Boy!
The doctor sent me home with prescriptions for Miralax and Lactulose. I had disposable gloves, which I used to go it and dig out the big pieces when they were stuck halfway out. You can get Miralax OTC. I don’t know if Lactulose comes OTC. It’s the Lactulose that really does it, but don’t go anywhere for a while. Buy overnight-size pads, because you’re going to leak. That’s the Miralax.
Call your doctor/surgeon and tell them you’re constipated and stuck in your weight loss. I lost 6 pounds of poop, and I’m back on track. It took 3-4 days to get that much out.

Third week pause. It's normal. Happening to me right now. Keep with the program and it'll start dropping again.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
