Hello

This is my first post. I hope I put it in the right forum for "April Surgeries". It's nice to meet everyone. I have been on this journey since April of last year. Im excited, anxious, all the feelings. I am still trying to cut back and make life style changes. I am also trying to go ahead and cut to one smoothie a day. But my smoothies are yummy, the sample smoothie the Drs office gave me. Does is matter what brand?

I tried a sample: Bariatric Fusion:Meal Replacement orange cream...IT was ok but a terrible after taste. I have seen people saying they tried Premiere or other drinks, are these allowed? I also see people saying broths, when did you start broths? Pre or post?

How is everyone's significant other with their surgery? Mine hates the idea, but finally starting to show support. I wish I could truly get him on the same page as me though.

My consultant for surgery is March 31st,

There are so many different Protein Shakes you can use. Premier Protein is one of the most popular because the ready made ones have 30G of Protein in the small "juice box" Fairfield is another good brand and so on there are tons... As for pre surgery some people have to do a liquid diet for a week, 2 weeks, a month it all depends on what your surgeon says. after surgery you will be on a liquid diet for some time... Again it depends on what your surgeon says as they all do different things.

Hello and welcome. Premiere Protein Shakes are what my surgeon recommended but they are all different in terms of what shakes they want you on (best advice is stick to your clinics plan). Many people have to do broth on their pre op diet. I was fortunate mine wasn’t all liquid (again stick to your teams plan). My significant other was very on board. I was thin when I met him though so he could see the difference in how my weight slowed me down physically as well as emotionally over the years as I gained it and didn’t have the fears that some partners get that I would get thin and act different or leave him cause I loved him when I was thin before and he knew what to expect. I am glad your significant others is starting to be supportive. Perhaps take them along to doctors appointments and support group meetings and they will get more on the same page. Congratulations on starting this life changing journey

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
