March 2022 Surgery Buddies

Recommended Posts

I recently joined and finally have a surgery date of 3/7. Had to change from sleeve to bypass due to high GERD found through EGD with Bravo.

! I’ll be thinking about you and keeping you in my prayers! Good luck and God Bless!!!

I am nervous about covid delaying and also in previous surgery I normally get sick after being put under. I am hoping I don’t throw up this time. Also I am so excited to start my new life however it’s so hard for me to imagine myself skinny. I can’t see but I am excited to see it because it will happen.

I'll be excited to see your before and after photos ... in due time!

My surgery is scheduled for March 17th. I'm getting the sleeve done. I'm starting a liver shrinking diet tomorrow and doing Protein Shakes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

How is your liver shrinking diet going so far? Mine doesn't start until the 22nd but I'm already getting excited/anxious for it.

I'm doing great! I made this cabbage veggie Soup and have it and Protein for lunch and a regular lean protein with veggies for dinner. I don't get burned out on it because I don't eat it for B, L, and D. There's days when I only eat the soup. That's just because I really like it and that's all I wanted that day. Then there's days like yesterday when I want to eat everything I look at, lol. Those days I just do bites of each. That way I get my craving out of the way but don't overindulge and still get my protein and veggies in.

I was January 18 but was postponed due to covid patients in the hospitals. My new date is March 3rd. I will start my pre op diet on Feb 16th. I'm glad it starts after the superbowl and after valentine's day. I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel (again). Hopefully I won't be postponed again! Good Luck everyone!

I am right there with you! Originally scheduled for 1/20, but postponed due to covid patients. I just found out on Friday that I am scheduled for 3/1.

During the 4 weeks of not knowing what was going on, I was ready to throw in the towel. Thankfully I have maintained my weight. but need to restart the liver shrink diet ASAP!

I was originally scheduled for January 4th, then rescheduled for January 25, then again for March 4; now we're settled in for March 11, unless COVID throws something else at us!

Oh wow, I thought being rescheduled once was bad! Hang in there, we will all get through this. :)

I’m a newbie here and just got my surgery date for March 9th! Whoa, I’m really doing this! Here we go! This forum has helped a lot in learning about others experiences. Sending good fortune and support to everyone. ☀️

Congratulations on your surgery date. March 9th 2021 here and what a year it has been. I am currently 13 pounds from goal and sorta stuck there. I think my body has found it’s happy weight and I may need to add in more exercise to get to my goal but I couldn’t be happier about my progress so far.

We're getting close!! I start my pre-op appointments next week. I have my pre-op physical with my GP on Tuesday and blood work Thursday. No pre-op liver shrinking diet for me. I'm close to "Healthy" weight and my surgical team decided it wasn't necessary for me. I'm soooo very ready to get this GERD out of my life for good!

So happy to hear you are rescheduled!! I just started to look at food/shake combinations that will keep me below 50 gm of carbs per day. I am allowed either shakes or lean meat and veggies for my 4 meal per day. I think I am going to do shakes for Breakfast and lunch. A Protein Water and yogurt for a snack and then meat and veggies for dinner. Most of the days I planned out came to 750 calories, 40 g carbs, 95 g protein, and 20 g fat. My diet is to be high protein, low fat, low carb, low calorie for 2 weeks. Since I could just drink shakes 4 times per day for 2 weeks if I wanted (which I don't), I used that as a guide for my macros and calories goals (max 1000 calories, 80-120 g protein, 50 g carbs, 24 g fat). Its going to be tough and monotonous but its only for 2 weeks...right?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
