February 2022 Surgery Buddies

Recommended Posts

Day 4 from my DS surgery. I'm having some difficulty walking and sitting as I have a pain on my right lower side that insists on staying with me but I'm handling it the best I can. When I'm in bed I don't feel it and thankfully I have an adjustable bed so I stay sitting up for a long time. I stayed 2 nights in the hospital, no complications whatsoever and now I'm glad to be home. I'm on Phase 2 now, trying the thicker liquids so little by little. Day by day is all I continue to tell myself. Hang in there, the hardest part is already done haha!! 😁

I’m 6 days out out from Gastric Sleeve. It’s been a learning journey. I was also having pain in lower right side and come to find out I have a impacted kidney stone. More damage to remove then leave alone. Continued Prayers and Healing Vibes.

Congratulations. I would like to know With this surgery do you experience any stomach pains? Is it still possible to Over eat? I’m scheduled for surgery 3/8 in Mexico

I am now 2 weeks post op and I do still have stomach pain on my right which is where they remove part of your stomach but other than that it doesn’t feel to bad. Right after surgery I was a little sore at all the other incisions but that went away fairly quick. You can over eat and you can eat to fast I actually experienced it yesterday. I was only having broth and I think I just drank to fast and ended up having what is called dumping syndrome. Just remember after surgery listen to ur body pay attention and eat and drink slowly! Good luck on uour surgery!

Heyy my surgery was 2/22 in Maryland. I’m 4 days post op and I can only get certain things down. Im trying to find a Protein Shake that works for me now, becaus i can’t do premier anymore. Also Vitamins I’ve bought the ProCare Health chewable and omg they were disgusting so now i purchased the Bariatric Advantage chewy and hopefully they taste better if not I’m just gonna opt to taking the pills instead of the chews. Any recommendations for vitamins or Protein Drinks? #struggling

I had my surgery on Feb 14th and same deal, I can't drink Premier Protein anymore. It tastes so chemically and fake. I bought $80 worth pre op and can't drink any of it.

I find that ensure with 30 grams of Protein and 150 calories is the best tasting, specifically the chocolate. The strawberry is okay but only very cold.

You can also buy Isopure zero carb unflavored Protein Powder and mix in a serving with the blender and a bit of ice with the ensure. You get 55 grams of protein in one drink. If you're super daring you can add some protein Peanut Butter powder and get 60 grams in one shake. Also nice so you don't have to do 2 shakes or my dietician gave me a 60 gram a day requirement.

I understand your struggle I am 3 weeks post op I tried to take Bariatric Fushion chewables they were the worst things ever. I also decided at that point just to stick to pills so I ordered Bariatric Fushion Multivitamin 1 a day. I will just have to add a Calcium chew along with it. It has been hard for me to drink Protein Shakes I believe it is a mental thing. I tried last week and it came right back up. I will try again in a couple of days. I didn’t like premier either you should try fairlife they are not thick like Protein shakes and don’t have that nasty after taste.

So I am 10 days post op and my nutritionist has moved me to puréed foods 2ozs. I had grilled chicken with mashed potatoes yesterday, which I didn’t even finish all of it. I am also allowed to have cooked veggies now. I have been tolerating the food well, but only Have one puréed meal a day, i might have cream of wheat for Breakfast and then my puréed food for dinner. Is anyone else in puréed food yet?

For vitamins I use the Walmart childrens chewable and they work ok for me for Calcium I use Caltrate plus Vitamin D and I’ve had good luck with that the Protein Shakes I couldn’t do I ended up finding Premier Protein juice and I handle that pretty well or get unflavored Protein powder and add it to something u can drink or add it to applesauce that’s what was recommended to me

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
