September Surgery Buddies!!

Make sure you are getting enough electrolytes. Drink Powerade/Gatorade, use a Water Enhancer, or try some Pickle Juice if you can't stomach broth. When you are taking in so few calories and drinking all that Water, its easy to end up with an electrolyte imbalance which can contribute to low blood pressure and the dizzy feeling. It does get better once you move to full liquids, but its important to stay on top of it as best you can.

Thank you so much. I hadn’t thought of that!

Hi, congrats on your surgery! I had my sleeve done on 9- 23-21, so we're about in the same time frame post op. Are you drinking your shakes? They should help. I ordered fit and lean powder from Amazon, actually way before I had my surgery. I mix 2tbs chocolate PB2 or PB fit with 8 oz of coconut milk or almond milk- unsweetened and some ice cubes in my ninja blender and it is filling. I also think there is alot of Fiber in this particular powder so I experience a little more gas than usual. today is one week out for me and I tolerate the milk pretty good. my problem was drinking too big a sips of all my liquid. Good luck! surgery buddie!

That sounds delicious. Lately all I can stomach is a few tablespoons of a Premier Protein shake. I may try that tomorrow though. Thank you so much. Many good ideas. I definitely need the Fiber too. Good luck to you as well. I’m certainly excited.

That sounds good. Are we allowed that. My husband is a huge hot and sour Soup fan. I’m usually not but I’m desperate. Thank you 😊

Whether you are allowed Soup is up to your surgery center. I didn't ask... I was afraid they'd say no and I can't tolerate canned boring chicken broth, which was allowed. Hot and sour soup is a little thicker even strained and Tom Yum has a bit of oil, but it doesn't have any pieces in it as long as you put it through a strainer.

I’d imagine that would be alright. At this point I’m willing to try anything once just to see if my stomach will tolerate it and give me a little energy back. Thank you.

Congrats on getting it done! I know it feels terrible right now, but I promise it does get better. The day of surgery was extremely rough for me, but by day 3 I was feeling MUCH better. Take your meds, rest as much as you need to, and give yourself lots of grace. [emoji3590]
Thank you. I am finally feeling like the gas is finally dissipating and I am feeling better. [emoji18]

I had rny on 9/23. Our plan allows plain yogurt, so I mix some of that and some fairlife with the PB fit makes a pb mousse type. delish! and my tummy tolerates. I'm still getting some gas. I have post nasal drip from my allegies so I think I am swallowing some air. I'm sure it will get better. When does energy come back???

Hi…had my surgery on 9/29/21. Only two days ago. I feel OK but I am not hungry at all so it is hard for me to do too much Clear Liquids. I used 1/2 of the Premier Clear Protein Shake peach flavor but by time I drink half I was done. Been trying to drink my Water instead. Maybe tomorrow I will feel more up to the Protein Drink. Otherwise I feel good. With preop and now this I have dropped 24 pounds so I feel like I have a great start. Trying to stay a little active by going through my clothes and putting them in to totes for Hope Hospice to sell.

Hi, that does sound yummy! I am in the process of trying to figure out which Multivitamin to order. Either from bariatric pal or another site. I can't remember the name right now. hopefully once I start Vitamins it will get better.

I ordered Mary Ruth’s liquid multivitamin off Amazon. My mom has been using it for a while and she is 13yrs in after her surgery. I’m only 3 days lol

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
