I had sleeve 8/16/21. I too was nervous, almost canceled, but so glad I did it. Longer life, quality of life. Have lost 11 pounds since surgery. Some gas pain. Gas x chewable mint helped a lot, plus walking. Went home 25 hours later. Looking forward to full liquids tomorrow. Good luck. Worth it.

My surgery was August 10th, and I’m on blended foods right now so I know what you mean. I feel like I crave food even though I’m not hungry. I am a week away from soft chopped and I am so excited. The ricotta bake did help me feel like I was eating more normal foods. Puréed Soups from Panera also helped. They say the head hunger gets better, and I hope so!! I think we’re in a weird stage where we can’t eat what we want, and we don’t see significant weight loss yet so we feel kind of stuck. You’ll do great, we just have to give it time! ?

I am surprised you could eat a "riccotta bake" . I imagine that is pretty high in fat and calories. From my calorie intake I would not be able to eat anything else all day. I find that I have to plan my whole day out so I can have food spread out evenly with my 800 calories.

So glad to hear all my August surgery peeps are doing well! I go in tomorrow morning at 5:30AM and am finding myself in my emotions today. Tons of worries and just the emotional toll of knowing I need to go to this extreme to lose weight. I keep telling myself my last 10-15 years have proven I need a tool to help me stay healthy and I know it's the right thing. It's like this unexpected last minute wave of shame and guilt. I hate the thought of putting anyone out and my husband will be bearing the brunt of this with extra childcare, chores, errands, etc.

I thought I could get through this without a therapist, but I am seeing now how that will be a helpful resource. I can only imagine the emotions that will come with this lifestyle change and the changes my body will be going through.

Trying to breathe, stay focused and look to the future today. Thanks for listening! I am so excited to continue to hear about all of your journeys! Best wishes to you all! ❤️

good luck on your surgery today

Hey Tony! Not sure why you felt the need to call me out on here, but I figured since I was on the forum anyway I’d be happy to educate you! ?

The Ricotta bake is a recipe I learned about through the Bariatric forums here on Bariatric pal. It was a recipe created for those on a blended diet post Bariatric surgery. It can be found on Bariatricbits.com, and I will also post the nutritional information since you are so worried about my calorie and fat intake! And don’t worry, Tony, I only had one serving and couldn’t even finish all of it! ?

Serving size: 0.33 cup

calories: 144

carbohydrates: 5g

protein: 12g

fat: 8 g

So far down 21 pounds with no issue! Good luck with your surgery!

Certainly not "calling you out". It seemed a little strange to me. My apologies if you took it like that. I am just trying to learn is all. Again, my apologies

Girl the night before my surgery I was a wreck. I’m only 2 weeks post-op now, so I can’t really offer any long-term insight, but I’m happy I did it. The first couple days in the hospital are rough but once you get through your first week, things will get better! We are in this together and I am rooting for you!! You are making the right decision, and you’ll feel some relief after you get back home and recover for a bit! Saying a prayer for your surgery and speedy recovery!

Good luck All. I had mine Aug 16th and was released before 11 AM on the next day. Thank God it was smooth sailing minimum pain n vomiting. Dr Appt today n down 20 lbs since one wk pre liquid diet. Unsure how but just lil encouragement that the process works. Open to any questions.

Out before 11AM the next day?? That's awesome! I've had a really good post-op experience, too-but had to stay an extra day since I was having problems getting my fluids in. I'm really happy with my results so far, have you started the blended stage yet? How is it going for you?

Congratulations!! I had mine August 16. 2021. I had the sleeve. Was only in hospital 25 hours, I am 69 years young. Full liquids out of hospital, today I ate a soft boiled egg. Ate about 3/4 of it. Tolerated well. I too was so nervous, almost backed out. 7 days past surgery. Down 12 pounds. Hard time drinking protein drinks, going to look for some clear liquid tomorrow. Good luck to you, I am so glad I did it! Longer life, better quality of life ahead!

Hey surgery twin! Yes, you said it! On the other side of "through" waits VICTORY!

Take each day at a time. Once you start seeing results and feel better you’re not going to want to go back. I have been watching some videos regarding weight gain afterwards and it really has a lot to do with our mindsets. You’re going to be fine.

Wow!! So proud of you and a little jealous. You got to eat an egg. I start mushy on Thursday. Looking forward to new opportunities ions.

My surgery was August 16, released the following day. Also had an unplanned hiatal hernia repaired. By day 5, I felt great. Like most, I struggle to get my protein and liquids in, don't love the taste of shakes.

I lost 10 pounds on the pre surgery diet, which for my doctor was an 800 calorie diet using food purchased through the clinic and another 10 or so in the past week.

Food has not been a temptation at all so far. I do enjoy cooking so I made some "meals" for the pureed stage. I found a Joie XL ice cube tray with a lid at TJ Maxx. Each cube hold 2 oz. so I cooked and pureed cauliflower (with some cheese for protein) and also made the ricotta bake. I then froze them in the ice cube tray and once they were frozen, I transferred them into a freezer bag until next week.

Seven days out from surgery and absolutely no regrets!
