Just got my date of June 21st! The medical office just submitted my paperwork earlier this week and I was approved already and I am so thankful. Between now and then I have to lose 14 pounds, so I am laser-focused and it is a good distraction considering the alternative is being overly anxious and nervous about the actual surgery. Glad I found this group to have new friends and have a shared experience!

Got a call this past Friday that my surgeon had some changes in his schedule and they would need to either reschedule me for September or move me to another surgeon in the practice. My surgery had already been delayed from last December as I didn't feel comfortable with the original facility and moved to a different program. Though it makes me crazy nervous I opted to change to a different surgeon. It's pretty frustrating, but, I've also talked to plenty of people who don't meet their surgeon until the day of the surgery. The program I'm in is pretty robust though, so, putting my faith in that and the info I have found online about the new surgeon. liquid diet starts Friday!

Are you going to have surgery in Sept? If so, why is the liquid diet starting so soon?

Hi All -

My sleeve surgery is scheduled for 6/28. I am eager and excited about it. Today I found this forum and I could not be happier. I have so many questions and love to learn more from those going through it too.

I got a call on Friday that they had a cancellation and my surgery has been moved up!! My liver shrinking diet starts today bc I’m having surgery 6/7!!!!!

No, I decided to move to the new surgeon instead of moving to September. I've already waited well over a year for this, I'm ready to get it done! Still set for a 6/11 surgery date.

Perhaps you can ask to do one last appointment to meet the new surgeon ahead of that day. I think we all are pretty nervous though by the time we start our preop diet new surgeon or not.

@ShoppGirlthanks for the suggestion. I did call, but, there is no room in his schedule in the next two weeks. I'm working to trust the process and moving forward.

I start my 2 week liquid diet tomorrow and decided it was finally time to tell my parents and kids about my surgery on 6/11. The kids went as expected with a few questions and lots of support. My mom completely surprised me with her reaction. She said she thought it was a great decision, that she was happy for me and that she had no doubt I would be successful. The very next thing she said was "how can we help?" I about broke down in tears. I had been so nervous about telling her and it turns out she is my biggest supporter. It feels so nice to not have that stress on my shoulders any more. By telling those closest to me I found the biggest support system. I'm beyond thankful it all worked out like that!

Aw bless you, this made me well up!! I have told just one person who has been very measured and blase in her response, I expect I would be supported by others if I told them but I just don't feel up to sharing. I am so pleased they were all lovely!! I have been really tempted to tell one particular friend, I think she would be amazing and I feel awful lying to her that I'm going in for a hernia surgery.

Sorry your surgery got moved last minute, it must be tricky to get your head round but I don't blame you for not wanting to push it til september!

I still haven't heard anything, except that mines been bumped from 12th to the 15th - no diet advice, no letter with a date on, no info on isolating, no agreement on finance. I rang and they say ah yes, its all in hand, you'll receive it on time... well its a bank holiday in the UK this weekend, so if its not been sent today, its unlikely to be sent til next tuesday.. which is a fortnight before my surgery and feels a bit nervewrackingly close! GAH! I worked in hospital admin and children's nutrition for years, its not that bloody hard to send a photocopied dietsheet in the post 🙈 lol

Got to keep smiling and trust the process.. finally stopped raining here and I've been finding gardening very therapeutic and distracting. Any one got any other good distraction tips for pre-surgery jitters?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
