How much weight did you lose the first 90 days ?

Recommended Posts

I am just over two months post op and I have lost 52.8 pounds. It’s not as rapid as it was in the beginning, but definitely the scale is only going down. I also have been exercising plenty.

I’ve lost 72lbs in just under 5 months. My weight loss has slowed but still losing about 10lbs a month. I’ve upped my exercise since the excess weight isn’t holding me back. I swim 3/4 times a week. Got back in the pool about two months ago after being out for 10 years. Starting to feel like myself again. Excited for you to experience the thrills of this journey!

@EllaKop

What app do you use to log your weight? That's a really nice summary of your weight loss!

Baritastic - it’s so great you can log your food and input recipes to get a good idea of calories per serving. It has been my greatest tool! It also tracks your BMI!

WOW Dude that is crazy! Any idea why you lost so fast? Did you hve ny Hair loss losing weight that fat? It doesn't appear so from the picture. Were you exercising a lot nd eating very little during that time? Thanks for replying and congratulations!

I honestly have no idea why the weight came off so fast. I have always just kind of guessed it was because of my age. I did not lost any hair and I actually wasn't exercising at all for like the first year after my surgery. I was eating VERY little for a long time.

I’m almost 6 months post op VSG. At surgery my BMI was 35. I’m 5’9 and in my mid 40’s.  I have hypothyroidism/Hashimoto’s.  I may be a slow loser but I’m incredibly happy with my surgery

I feel like I’m more of a slow loser too. I lost 30lbs. pre-op, and then 44 the first 90 days. I’m now at 4 months out and down at total of 85lbs. from my highest weight of 299.
It’s fun reading these stories. Way to go everyone!!!

Lost 68 in the first 90 and am down 120 today from 8mos ago. Slowed a lot since November but still trending down a couple pounds a week. Seems like a week without losing then two or three days where it’s a pound a day then a week stall. BMI is down to 26 so almost “healthy” starting from BMI 40. Thought my goal of 220lbs was overly optimistic but now I’m thinking 199 is doable. At 213 now (6’4”) and feeling great. “Wish I did this years ago” as many people say.

I’m a slow loser too. Probably the slowest. I had VSG on the 24th of December. Pre-surgery I lost 23lbs. At two months yesterday, I am down 26lbs after surgery or 50lbs total at the two month mark (it may be more than that as I weigh every Sunday). I’m pretty consistent at 2-3lbs per week. Luckily, I’ve still had no Hair loss. I average about 700 calories but sometimes a little more or little less. I get frustrated with my slower losses but then the inches lost and muscle definition make me feel better. Incidentally, my surgeon doesn’t worry about weight loss until month 3 and said my weight loss should pick up the most Between month 4-8. So, who knows?

These numbers are awesome! I had my surgery on 1/29/2021, and I'm down 28lbs since then. Seems like it has stalled slowed a bit in the last couple weeks. I'm down 67 overall since last February when I started this whole idea.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
