Fisrst Weigh in after sugery I have questions

Yesterday I finally got my staples out ( 13 days after being banded) the openigs are healing well and I have lost twelve pounds but still feel very swollen, Does anybody know how long this lasts? Also I still am having trouble eating more than a few tablespoons of food per meal and I don't even have a fill yet did anybody else have the same problem and how long does it last?

i had the same problem it lasted for 3-4 weeks.

major swelling i did not have my fill until 3 months post op. you are of the norm

I had surgical staples too. Some doctors use them instead of stitches to close the incisions. Mine came out about a week after surgery.

Bigmom, what you're experiencing is totally normal. It can take several weeks for some people to feel totally normal in the abdominal area after surgery. Just take it easy and you WILL feel better soon. :D

Thanks for all the support it really helps to take advie from people who have really been there and can understand. I go for my first fill MArch 14 and am wondering how much less I will be eating than now since I am having less than a cup of food a day. Also when did you all start to eat non puree foods?

That is how the Dr. here in Montreal does it he says it has less chance of infection and leaves less of a scar.

I had liquid stitches... my personal favorite. :D I actually felt like my belly was swollen for a couple of months... or maybe it was just that I was too sore to suck it in!
