Hey everyone! Survived the holiday, my first stall and down 32 lbs this morning. 6 weeks post op and started exercising this week. hair shedding started right away and finally slowed a bit this week. Not noticeable unless you see my bathroom shower wall afterwards 😂. How is everyone doing?? Steamed green Beans & sautéed mushrooms have been a favorite recently.

Way to go! Please share what you eat, in what quantity per day.

Luna, did you have the mini gastric bypass or the gastric bypass?

I see. Glad you found some leftovers!! I’m crossing my fingers they give you something today! You’re in my thoughts and prayers!

My pain dr. says they don’t prescribe addicting drugs (couldn’t think of his term) and I should call my family dr and see if she would. Didn’t talk directly to him, but thru the office staff. Soooo, I called my family dr. , and the nurse said she would list this as high priority for my family dr., and someone would either call me to schedule a video visit, or maybe the dr. Would just call me.
pits time for them to close and no one got back to me. I have 4 pills left.... I can’t go in to the office because of being exposed to Covid.

Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry!!! I saw my pain specialist today and got another Percocet prescription. Just because some people get addicted and abuse drugs doesn’t mean we should be in agony. You need to find a new pain dr. That is ridiculous! I have to go in once a month. They won’t call it in, but they can exam you and tell if you’re an addict or a person in extreme pain! I have to go for another round of mri/x-ray/ct... once a year. It’s not like they can’t see it!!!

I’m so frustrated for you. Wish I lived nearby, I’d drive you to the doctor and yell at them for you! 😬. Okay maybe not yell, but sternly tell them what’s up!! Still praying for you. Sometimes you have to be the squeaky wheel. Call your GP first thing tomorrow and again after lunch. They get busy and it slides down the list...

I have 3 special needs kids and I have learned how to advocate hard! There is no reason for pain in our society! Hang in there!

Thanks so much for the support! They make me feel like an addict!!! I really don’t expect my family dr to do any better, but she did give me an extra script after my surgery, so there is hope. All I’m asking for is to have one low dose pill a day for the next 17 days! What state are you in? I think our state is soooo paranoid and legalistic! I am sorry you have to go thru all that for your pain. But at least they are keeping updated as to your progress, or no progress.

I’m currently in Utah, but have lived in Virginia, Texas, Michigan, Washington and have always been able to get help with this. That’s why I think you need to shop pain doctors. I get they need to be careful, but this is the bare minimum you’re requesting! Hang in!!💚❤️💜

We have lived a lot of places, but PA is our home. But where I am going for my pain dr. Is primarily Osteopathic, and I think they are more therapy and basic in their medicine practice. I will call around tomorrow, after I hear from my family dr. , and see what I can find out. Years ago the medicines I took for this did the job, but now I’m getting more arthritis in my spine that’s messin with the nerves going down my legs as well as my lower back. I need to find someone who will help me, you’re right! Thanks so much, Lanie!

Regular gastric bypass. I asked my Dr about the mini and she said it’s too hard to get insurance to approve. Maybe that has to do with my insurance or not? But decided the regular gastric bypass was right for me.

Here’s a few examples for food for a day:

Breakfast:
1 Oikos Tripppe Zero yogurt (I almost eat entire serving) and 2 cut up strawberries
Or..
8oz Soymilk blended with Premier vanilla Protein Powder, 2 tbsp PB2, cinnamon & squirt of stevia (cup of ice)

Lunch: 1-2 oz Grilled Salmon with Capers

Or 1-2 oz Grilled chicken. I’ll make a Caprese salad (mozzarella, oil, basil & balsamic glaze drizzle)

Dinner: Steamed Green Beans and left over Protein from lunch.

Snacks: blueberries, whole almonds or Protein Shakes.

I’ll sneak in a few whole wheat ritz crackers every few days. Simple foods are what is settling good right now. Drinking Water with a splash of Gatorade Zero for flavor or a Mio splash for flavor.

That’s it! Love to hear any other ideas

So good!!

Breakfast I have had egg whites with spinach. I put it in my blender. It’s green eggs!! But it’s good!

lunch I have had tuna with low fat mayo with cucumber slices. Or chicken salad.

dinner is usually chicken with cooked veg of some sort....like a stir fry or fajita like.

Snacks I also have almonds or fat free plain Greek yogurt with half an apple or half banana but I think I have to give up fruit for a bit...I’m stalling again!

need to push through to get the weight loss moving again!!

food ideas:
snacks: I’ll roll provolone cheese & turkey together and dip in guacamole, or Handful of blueberries.

Breakfast: went out to eat and ordered mushroom cheddar omelette.

Lunch: Split pea Soup with Isopure Protein powder.

Dinner: Green Beans & salmon

Anybody try salad? ? I’m craving one but nervous on all the fresh veggies only being 6 weeks out.

Trying my best to stick to high protein, low sugar fruits. But 2-3 crackers always find their way to me at night 🤫🤣

I eat salad, and I’ve had no problems with it, but I don’t put anything fancy in it. Just chew well. I like spinach salad, with baby spinach. That has some Protein in it I believe. And it’s sweet and not bitter.

That is so annoying! Nerve pain is the worst! My goes down my legs. I take 10-325 Percocet every 5.5 hours or I wouldn’t survive. Can you see a pain specialist? My GP won’t prescribe either. I’m so sorry!!

Just wanted to let you know, my PCP was called in to work at the hospital because of the Covid, so I was struggling to work with a dr. Who doesn’t know me from Adam. After a few desperate phone calls SHE PRESCRIBED ME THE MEDICINE! I took my last old pill last night, and I’m kinda worried about starting the new ones tonight because I’m afraid she gave me sugar pills just to get me off her back!! Lol tonite will tell!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
