First Fill

Recommended Posts

My first fill is scheduled for 1/3/08 because I am having some restriction from surgery. I am satisfied with between 1000 to 1200 calories per day and am not experiencing hunger between meals. I am not sure what he will do when I go in. We will see. I keep waiting for "Bandster Hell" to begin but I must be one of those that it hasn't happened to yet.

Same here! Yes, I've been hungry at meal time but as soon as I eat my small, slow meal, I'm fine and can go for hours. We're very lucky, I know, and I hope our luck continues! ;)

Longhorn-

I read so many posts from people who are having so much hunger and I feel so bad for them; especially when I am feeling no hunger and may not need a fill. I wonder why such vast differences between banders. I don't get it.

No, I don't get it either! Before the band, I wasn't a binge eater and I didn't really stuff myself but I could eat a little at a time all day long! I'm not used to going several hours without even thinking about food. And while it tastes good, there are times when I'm not that interested in it. This is very strange and it's also proof that our attitudes about food are neither a character strength or flaw. You and I are not doing anything special to be this way and those who are in Bandster Hell are not doing anything wrong.

So often we blame ourselves for our "lack of self-control." Someone examining obesity issues in a book wrote recently that saying that it takes self-control not to eat is like claiming that one can use self-control to stay awake all night. Sure, we could do it for awhile but eventually we have to sleep and our bodies will force the issue. The same is true for trying not to eat!

:help:How long does it take until you can't feel your port anymore? Everytime I bend over I feel the port dig into me. Certain motions have become uncomfortable. I go for my first fill on 12/13/07. I can pretty much eat anything I want so I am happy about the fill. The whole port thing really upsets me. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

NY Girl - My port digs into my ribs when I bend down to do something. I wouldn't say it HURTS, but it's uncomfortable. I try to avoid it at all costs. LOL Other times, it may not hit my ribs, but I can feel kind of a pinching feeling and it reminds me to take it kind of easy so it doesn't pop off of its stitches. I have no idea how long this'll last.

I had my first fill today. My dr only put 2mls in a 10ml band. It was quick and didn't hurt at all. It did make a lot of difference. I went to a work xmas party and was able to eat the finger foods being served and 2 glasses of white wine. Lucky I did some dancing as well to get rid of some of the cals. ;) I haven't had much of a problem with hunger so far so am happy with this amount of fill for now.

Hey everyone! I will be getting my first fill today. I am a little nervous as to what to expect but VERY excited! I am still losing weight but I'm also starving myself to do it. I NEVER feel that "full" feeling. I limit myself to small portions and try hard not to snack in between. I just feel like, why the heck did I do this! I could be starving myself without the lapband. I hope this fill helps me out some!

So, I'm back from my first fill. It's wasn't bad at all. It didn't hurt and I was in and out really quick. I go back 1/9 for another if needed. I have to be on liquids for 24 hours and then I can resume normal eating. I am feeling a little neuseated right now. Have any of you felt that way after a fill?

Had my first fill today. It went really well. The doctor put 1 cc of Fluid in the band, I have a standard AP four ounce band. Did anyone feel an immediate difference in their band with the first filling? I can't tell the difference in mine.

:help:

By the way how do you get those neat weight loss trackers on your posts? Is it part of a signature line you created and if it is how do I create one?

Thank you.

You should just be able to go to tickerfactory.com and set up an account. get the code from the finish page and copy and paste it into your sig line.

It may take a little tinkering as to which code to use and all but it is pretty neat. If you want to just track weight loss select that one. However, if you want to show start weight, current, and goal weight then select the "weight" selection.

Hope this helps.

:humble: I am having my first fill on December 19th and I am excited but I also am having my job's holiday dinner two days after my fill :hungry: so I am a little anxious about that, it will be my first time eatting in a resturant since surgery.

I'm in the same boat! My first fill is likely tomorrow (depending on what we decide) and my mother's 75th birthday party is Saturday. I'm almost tempted not to get one, not knowing how I'm going to react and I don't really want to be on liquid for the party, just because it can be a hassle and I don't to call attention to myself at my mother's event. I guess I'll talk to my doctor and see what he thinks. Good luck with yours!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
