Blood clots shot

Recommended Posts

Hey guys..

so on feb 3rd I was sleeved and was given a total of 3 shots to prevent blood clots at the hospital, 1 in my arm and 2 in my thigh. Till this day I still have nasty bruises on my thigh because of the shot. I’m a little worried because of the bruising and I feel actual pain on my thigh where the shot was given. Today I had woken up out of my sleep because I was thirsty, and I moved my leg and my thigh was in soooo much pain, really bad cramping at the site. I’m not sure if it’s something I should bring up to the nurse or if it’s normal but I need to hear other people’s experience because mine isn’t the best. I don’t think it’s normal to get pains here and there, to the point where I can’t even move my leg.

I wish I remembered the name of the shot that was given to me. I’ll have to find out.

Those are NOT bad bruises. I looked like a giant blueberry that needed to be taken away by the Oompa Loompas

On a serious note though I would call your surgeons office to tell them about the pain and cramping and see what they say

I had bruises for at least a month, big black ones that took ages to fade. No pain though, so I'd follow that up with your team.

I had those shots in my stomach and the bruises lasted for at least 3 weeks. It should get better soon.

All I have to say is your lucky, my surgeon had me on shots at home for twice a day and I have a bruised up abdomen- I have about 15 bruises along with the dang ones from the hospital. Mine are not gone and I am 3 weeks post op and almost a week from all shots taken. Depends on how long it takes you to heal from bruises I guess.

I occasionally get those horrible cramps in my legs usually when my electrolytes are low, like potassium or magnesium. I had to do the shots for a month after surgery bc of prior blood clot in my lung, you should’ve seen my belly, it will fade don’t worry.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
