welcome and good luck with your upcoming surgery...keep coming back and let us know how you are doing..............Julie

I will have to let you all know how it goes. I have been reading some much about everything out here. Thanks for the interest in my post...this type of communication can be great, but it also seems like someone words can get very easily missed.

I look forward to future posts!

Beth~

I was just reading and came to your post. What do you mean by "you just don't have many?"

I am just curious and I hope I am not interrupting a conversation.

I am so happy for all of you, you are  (group Hug) so inspiring to read how well you are handling all of this. I go in one week 1/31 and am a bit nervous. Have started Protein Drinks, have been off my Diet Coke for over a week, Now am doing the 30 20 30 eating pattern and am only drinking Water "64 oz per day.

Found liquid Vitamin at costco yesterday and am happy since my doctor took me of meds till week after surgery!

I too am scheduled for my surgery on the 31st of Jan. Next week is coming up very fast and I am a bit nervous and overwhelmed. I went to see my Nutritionist today and also saw the Patient Coordinator for my Surgeon there was so much information coming at me that it can be a bit nerve racking. However, I have found that reading through the posts and seeing the success stories helps me to relax.

Well, I will have to check back with you to see how things are going. E-mail me or send me a note on how you are doing...we will be going through this at the same time.

Good luck and chat at you soon.

Hello January Bander,

I just returned home from my mini spa vacation in Mexico. My tour guide was Dr. Lopez. My visit was not a piece of cake, but not too bad. I am relaxing at home sipping Jello, and walking, walking, walking,

Hugs to all, Sandy

I'm skating in on the last day of this month. My surgery is scheduled for 8:00am on the 31st.

I am so ready for this, but a big ball of nerves! All the prepping and research for this has my head spinning.

Good luck to everyone here, I look forward to reading about everyone's progress.

Mistahbue, you are so right about food commercials. I have had to change the channel dozens of times.

I am on the clear liquid diet, until 1/28, then get full liquids until I see the doctor on 2/6. I can't believe I would ever get excited about getting skim milk or Protein drinks. I have to admit, it is getting a little tough, but I went back and read a couple of success stories on the lap-band web, it re-enforced that I did the right thing.

The soreness is going away, and I am going to try to walk more tomorrow. I walked a little the last couple of days, but I think the gas would have gone away faster if I had walked 30 min. a day like the Dr. wanted me to. Good luck to everyone getting banded this week.

Any other January bandster feeling HUNGRY? I can't believe how hungry I am and how hard it is to stick to a diet right now. I have my two week checkup in two days. So far I don't feel any restriction. I don't see the need to sip or restrict what I eat I feel like I always do. I hope the usual diet feeling of being hungry all the time goes down when I get my first fill. Someone please tell me this gets easier!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
