I am 6 days out and doing great! I walked my first full mile today....I am getting all my Protein and Water down. I still have a tad of gas and potty pains..poo...I am going to the bathroom but it feels like it is stuck there but moving nevertheless. I think that the walking is the big help! I get hunger smells for things I wish I could eat lol but being a good girl here. I see my Doc on 2/8 for follow up. I tried those gas-x strips no such luck for me...I just lay on my belly and heating pad(over my feather pillows)that seems to work the best..I still have some pain but not as bad as the first day out.Weighed myself for the first time today 205lbs.

Wish you all the best of luck!

~WhirlWinds~

I had surgery two days before you. One thing that really worked for me in the 'potty' area was to make/drink an All-Bran milkshake. I know that sounds terrible but it really is great. I'm on pureed foods at this point so I blend 1/2c. All-Bran with 1/2c.skim milk (I use soy milk), and 2 packets of artificial sugar. This fills me up so it has become my Breakfast meal. Within 4 days of drinking my All-Bran milkshake, all potty functions returned to normal--thank goodness!

Hello Lee41: I responded with my story in the e-mail here on the board. Please forward a copy to me as you are the first one I ever told it to... I was surprised as it just flowed out of me. Never had anyone ask me before either.I want to say Thank YOU! It has help me to understand how and why and just where I want to go! I will be doing the Benefiber that I bought starting tomarrow. I think I knew this was going to happen so I bought it before I had the surgery LOL! Oh well sh$tty subject... But today is much better for me...did house work because of the snow and weather here couldn't go to the gym. I have so much homework it isn't funny:eek: Guess I better get doing it if I want to pass and stay on the Dean's List:cool: Good Luck to all for surgery tomarrow and today!

Be Bless

So, I am now 7 days post-op and feeling better. I still have gas pains but thanks to GasX and a heating pad they are getting better. Does anyone know when the steristrips will fall off? They are itchy, but not coming up at all yet - I have this horrible urge to pick at them but I won't let myself. I wanted to say Thank You to everyone for all of your support during this time - it makes such a difference to have people to reach out to that are going through the same thing as I am. Good Luck to everyone!

Pam

Pam, My strips starting falling off about the 5th day. I still have 2 on. The one over the port, and one other. Congrats on feeling so well. I feel pretty good, and i am really trying to get in the 2 mile walk. My dog really appreciates the band because she is getting to go on more walks.:frown:

What a month.......yea for us !!!!!!!

3 weeks out and the only real problem I am having is the skin breakdown from my steri strips.....................the incisions look great, but the skin around it is sooo itchy and red. The doctor looked at it yesterday and said that it is not infected.thank god.....but it looks awful...........everything else has been going great and I'm down 21 pounds.....:frown:

Hey all,

I was banded on the 29th... I'm doing pretty good today (day 4). I'm pretty sore (feels like I got punched in the gut a few times) and I'm sleepy, but I'm sure that's to be expected. They made me walk in the hospital everyhour the last day I was there and then yesterday I went to the grocery store and picked up some meds and stuff. I think I over did it a bit, but I'm a little looser today. I can now lay down without the couch cushions underneath, but I still have a lot of pillows. I am trying to get my liquids in... my dietician said to push it, so I'm trying, but still working on getting up to full amount. I talk a nap everytime I take my pain meds, it makes me sleepy. I don't really have a lot of gas pains, but I think it's all of the walking. I sleep upstairs and I think that helps. Good luck to everyone coming up.

Take care, Michelle in Michigan

I am 4 days Post- Op, feeling pretty good, still have some gas but just keep burping. Ate my first soft foods today, no problem except not hungry, No pain medicine after 2nd day and sleeping well. Will continue to walk around house but am not up to a long walk just yet due to knees, & weight of course. Gained 13 pounds in surgery, but assume when I weight at one week I willhave lost that!

Thanks for all the support.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
