  1. Hi Everyone, I am going to start posting on here to motivate myself to get more exercise and get back to the gym. I had surgery a year ago and was working out 5-6 times a week until October when I started going through a divorce. Well, the divorce was just final and it is time to start exercising again. But somehow it is so hard to get motivated . . . I will post my first workout tomorrow. Pam
  2. I had lap band surgery 7 months ago and my hair has been falling out like crazy for the last month or so - It is really freaking me out! I need to take chewable vitamins as I can't seem to keep the regular ones down. They get stuck and come back up. Any suggestions on brands, where to buy, how much to take? Thank you!!!
  3. I had surgery on Jan. 23rd, and my doctor said that alcohol is fine. I usually drink 3-4 glasses of wine per week, but I make room for the extra calories by doing extra cardio on those days.
  4. Hi Everyone, Okay - I started the program today and it went well. I have been doing 1 1/2 hours of cardio 5 times a week (but no running) so I will have to get used to the running. Today was easy, but I have a feeling that it is going to get harder . . . I am hoping that my boobs will shrink as I lose weight, if you know what I mean . . . How is everyone else doing on the running program? Pam
  5. Hi Amy, Great idea - I'm in! I will start this Tuesday. Pam
  6. The only recommendation that I can give you is to find a doctor close to where you live. I was banded on 1/23/08 I go to my doctor frequently (4 times last month for fills), and also see his nurse and nutritionist for weight checks and overall support. Post-surgery care is very important with the lap band. Good luck.
  7. What about trying whole wheat (high fiber, low-carb) tortillas? I have used these to make sandwiches for lunch and have had no problem eating them. I just eat slowly, and it is a great source of fiber. White flour tortillas get stuck and make me sick, but I am fine with the whole wheat ones. Hope this helps.
  8. Hi Bibo07, I had the exact same experience as you - it was horrible! I would avoid taking laxatives. They are too harsh and are not healthy to take on a regular basis. My 4-year old was diagnosed with severe constipation as a baby and has been on Miralax for over 3 years. I take it now also and have had great results - no pain, cramping or gas. I take it 3 or 4 times a week in the morning mixed into my orange juice or V8. You can now buy Miralax without a prescription - I buy it at costco, but I see it at CVS and all grocery stores. Hope this helps!
  9. I would love a copy of the cookbook! I will also send a few recipes to you. Thank you for this great idea.
  10. Dr. Provost at UT Southwestern Medical Center is great. He has done over 1,000 lap band procedures and is known to be the top in his field. I was self-pay and the cost was appx. $12,000 (for outpatient procedure, another $5000 if you spend the night at Zale Lipshy). Feel free to ask any questions about him and his staff . . .

  12. Congrats Seajules on losing 21 lbs! That is great! Keep up the great work everyone - February is going to be a great month for us.
  13. So, I am now 7 days post-op and feeling better. I still have gas pains but thanks to GasX and a heating pad they are getting better. Does anyone know when the steristrips will fall off? They are itchy, but not coming up at all yet - I have this horrible urge to pick at them but I won't let myself. I wanted to say Thank You to everyone for all of your support during this time - it makes such a difference to have people to reach out to that are going through the same thing as I am. Good Luck to everyone! Pam
  14. Hi Everyone, So I am 5 days post-op and feel pretty sore. I stopped taking all my pain meds so I am more uncomfortable than I was 2 days ago. How is everyone else who had the surgery recently feeling? I am also really hungry - but I guess it is more of a brain hunger than really a stomach thing. Though, I am already getting sick of the protein shakes that I have to be on for the first 2 weeks, and I can no longer watch the food network because it makes me drool. Also, I weighed myself yesterday morning and was down 1 lb. since the surgery, and then I weighed myself again today and was up 6 lbs. today. Does think make any sense? I am feeling a little bit frustrated . . . Pam
