Not weird at all. I didn't feel hunger until my 3-4th week or so. I'd go into Mom's kitchen right after she baked a cake & yes, it smelled delish - but I wasn't interested in or wished for it either! That sure made things easier!

Im 2 weeks out as well and occasionally get a slight hunger feeling but it never lasts long. pizza sounds amazing but the calories etc do not lol that was one of my favorite foods! But I'm sure once we're able to have normal food again, there's a healthier way to make your own pizza 🤩

One of my surgeon's patients lost her mind (his words) & scarfed down TWO SLICES of pizzas less than 2 weeks after her surgery! She ended up in the ER. As far as I know, she's OK, but learned a painful lesson!

Ahhh why?! I'm terrified to even take a bigger gulp of Water than I was told to in fear something will happen 😲 bless her heart. I love pizza but I'm not willing to burst because of food. My surgery was painful as is and left me terrified to end up in the hospital again.. no thanks !

I wouldn’t bless her heart. That was plain stupid & sabotaging surgery. Why go thru this & not follow plan. Hope she learned lesson or she is doomed for failure and/or do real damage to herself. And I’m 2 months out & my nutritionist says I can try cauliflower crusted vegetable pizza. And I’m nervous to do that!

I'm from the south lol so when we say "bless your/her heart" means they were not so smart and made a dumb decision so I hope she learned. My friend said she had a friend that decided to have chili after surgery and it busted his stomach and he had to have surgery again .. ugh Cauliflower pizza is actually really good! I've had it and I like it .

I’m a northerner so gotcha! I’ve had chili several times with no issue. But not until at least 5-6 weeks after surgery. I’m very careful what I eat- how I eat & when I eat. I’m real fearful of getting sick.

Crystal, I had my surgery done Wednesday and I am having some tenderness and I think it’s because I’m scared to move to much. I definitely don’t want to wind up in the hospital again that was awful!!! We are basically a week apart! I’m craving food and I have thought several times what the hell did I do?? What food are you on now?? I cannot stomach the shakes. Let’s do this together!!!!

Hi Crystal
I am 6 days post op and having horrific cramping....I feel like I'm gonna lose my mind

Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Talk to your surgeon. They ended up prescribing me muscle relaxers. It was hell for me especially after surgery! Worst pain I've ever felt before !! It'll get better with time as well I promise. My post op was a nightmare and I thought I was going to lose my mind also. Hang in there and try not to use your muscles to get in and out of bed or sitting. I did that and I cramped up so bad it was awful

Thank you...I have an appt with him today....I pray for some relief soon

I had to spend the whole weekend in the hospital after surgery because of the intense pain I was experiencing with the cramping up. None of the staff helped me in or out of bed at all. I was in a lot of pain especially on the 6th day. The 3rd to 6th day are the worst pain days. Hang in there and let them know all the pain you're feeling. Hope you get relief!

Hi I'm Crystal. I'm new on here. I had my sleeve surgery done 11/15/19. But I feel so alone in my experience. The first night in the hospital was traumatizing, I experienced pain like no other. The pain I had was almost like my entire stomach contracted and it was horrific to feel!!! So I was kept there for the whole weekend. I've been home now and I've been okay. Turning at night and finding a "comfortable"position is nearly possible. Has anyone else had a hellish recovery process ?!?! Or is mine abnormal?! And the whole "days 3 to the 6th day are the worst", is no joke! Ahhh please tell me I'm not the only one in this painfulness

I had a horrendous time in August but my stomach completely twisted itself right after my sleeve so I was in the hospital for 2 weeks then had an emergency bypass. The odd person here has a tough time.

As a nurse, I shall remind you to take your pain relief regularly NOT just when the pain is worse because you need to keep on top of moderate pain not wait until you are in agony ok? Always have 1 dose at bedtime too.

Also, don't forget this IS major surgery even if it was key-hole, give your body time to heal gently, take it easy and remember 6 weeks until your innards are healed.

You will get there and you aren't alone xx

Hi @Sunshine Diggity, this may be the cause of your recent back pain (and some of your abdominal pain)

15 days without a BM is too long. You may want to take some immediate measures to get the literal sh*t out of you! Can you call your PCP for some guidance?

P.S. All the pain meds are also most likely contributing to your constipation 🤗

15 days isn't too long post op if you aren't eating but if you are getting Constipation cramps and fullness then yes some stool softeners are required.

Not going is not the same as being constipated, constipation is when it is uncomfortable/heavy/painful and you need to go. Where as post-op some people just have nothing much going in so there is nothing to come out :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
