Welcome to the Class of 2020 as @Greeteal calls it, lol. Our January family is growing and getting very close. Are you excited, nervous, or etc.? Do you know if you have to liquid diet, if so joe long?

Hi there...my surgery date is also on 1/31/2020! I’m having the sleeve and It’s with Dr. Bello at GBMC. Now, I’m starting to get more excited but I am definitely still nervous too. Although I’m doing quite a bit of preparation, I’ve joined support groups, and I have a solid core network of support with family and friends and with my Drs, nutrionist, RN, and everyone here so I’m feeling pretty positive about this new journey! I can’t wait!!

Thank you! I'm excited. I'm so ready to love myself, and feel better! I do have to do liquid diet, it's for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after. I go for my pre-OP work on 1/6. But if I remember correctly, after the post-OP liquid diet, I'll be on puree's for 3 weeks, then soft foods for 2 weeks and regular food for a week to see if I can tolerate it. But I'll find that out for sure on my preop appointment!

I was so excited to see we were surgery date twins when I saw your post! Seems we’re in the same boat as far as our excitement and nervousness. I think that’s normal. Looking forward to sharing our journey togethe! 💕

Yes, I read your profile. We are both Virgos, lol. I have been so excited as I continue with preparing for next month. I'm so excited to finally meet our immediate peer group. I will be posting and updating often, its been keeping me focused and I'm learning more about life as a wls person in the real world and actual everyday scenarios. This site is full of great questions and answers, I don't think the Dr. can answer all of these questions because each experience is different and so is the patient's experience to this major life changing event.

Welcome and how exciting. Are you required to do a preop diet? Nervous? Support system?

My pre-op is tomorrow, 12/24- Christmas Eve! Surgeon is Dr.Chu at Kaiser Fremont, CA. My surgery will be 1/7 & I’m so psyched! I have my Vitamins, muscle milk, broths & am ready! I’m afraid of the first 1-2 weeks because I hear they are a bit difficult. Fingers crossed!!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
