My mom brought over a fave dessert of the Kid's yesterday afternoon (which happens to also be one of my pre-op faves). Tried to resist, but I succumbed by dinnertime. Sooooo worth it. There is still about 1/3 of it left in the fridge and I can hear it calling my name...it's likely to end up im my stomach by 3pm...5pm tops.

Also had a killer headache yesterday. I didn't have a single cup of coffee. Coincidence?

Dinner and drinks out with Mr & pals...I didn't order anything for myself (other than drinks)...and just had bites of everyone's food. After tasting menus, this is my preferred way of eating out (especially when my meal companions let me have input on what they order! LOL)

P.S. Didn't have to resist the lemon curd tart because SOMEONE ate it all 😡, but I got Mr. to order a lemon cheesecake at dinner, so it's all good ;)

For snacking in the middle of the night, you make pretty good choices. When I did that before surgery it would have been chocolate candy, Cereal (sugar kind-fruit loops etc)
Have you always had trouble sleeping?

Sometimes I make good choices late-night-snacking choices, sometimes I do not, LOL.

And yeah, I've always been a horrible sleeper/insomniac/night owl. Even before wls surgery. But it was worse back then because I would snore and wake myself up or have to get up and pee 5-6 times a night. At least now when if/when I go to sleep, I can stay asleep longer than an hour. My problem is getting to sleep. :(

Went to an Italian buffet for Mr's grandma's Bday. Its really not worth it for me to eat at buffets, nor was I really interested in the spread that was on offer, so I opted out of eating and drank 2 vodka caesars instead (I ate some garnish! hahha). Mr. joined me in solidarity and skipped the buffet and just had a couple beers himself. Its funny cuz some relatives commented afterwards that the next time we get together for buffet, they are just going to order drinks too, LOL.

----------------------------------------

9:00am - 1/2 skinny tea latte

11:00am - 5 chicken wings + 1tbsp hot sauce

3:00pm - 2 vodka caesars (each one had a gherkin + a mini pepperette as garnish...which I ate off the first one, but my nephew ate the garnish off the second one, LOL)

7:00pm - salad greens w/ vinaigrette + 1 oz orange segments + 3 chicken wings + 2.5 oz pan fried chicken in bacon fat

10:00pm - 3 chicken wings + 1 tbsp BBQ Sauce + 1/4 of a cherry shortbread square + 2 fl oz Amaretto

5'2"/30 months PO/ CW 169
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Back in action lol. Was in England and Hungary had a grand time. food and drink was a very big issue I should have planned it out better. I tried to eat as "healthy" as possible but constantly on plane it in car. Also had a hard time finding drinks with Sweetener everything had sugar even Water was hard to find not sparkling. At the end of the day I weigh 169. Which is about a 3 pound gain. I'm not too upset about it I'm getting right back on track.

P.s. still having some issues with ovarian cyst l. I'm living on pain meds for back pain and hormonal headaches. Got my period after 20 days with last month 25 days previously I was always perfectly regular with 28 day cycles so trying to get to bottom of it.

@chayarg : welcome back! Glad you had a blast on vacay! It's difficult to stay on track on vacay, which is why I also give myself a pass when i'm out of the country, and just deal when I get back.

❤️

I used to adore Vientamese coffee! :( So curious...with all the sugar from the sweetened condensed milk and the cookie, did you have any dumping issues?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
