I'm scheduled for December 11th, my head is spinning just a little. I was originally scheduled for 12/23, but my surgeons office called me yesterday afternoon to move my procedure to 12/11......:54_hushed:. I'm glad I won't be in the hospital over the holidays, but ever so slightly stressed.

Don’t worry surgery twin!! Everything will work out. At least you get to spend your holidays with your family!

Awesome!!! It's really starting to feel real, isn't it?

I just got a call yesterday to schedule my pre-admission testing for 12/13. The hospital also has a new requirement that every patient has to be seen by a cardiologist and pulmonary doctor, so just made those appointments too. So all these appointments are keeping me quite busy!! Can't believe it's less than 2 weeks away!!!

I’m freaking out a little. Surgery 12/9 and my husband has the flu. I got the flu shot, but that’s no guarantee. I’ve been wearing a mask when I bring him Soup and medicine, but I’m so stressed, I really want a cheeseburger! I hate that he feels bad, but I do not want to have to get delayed, or start over n the liquid diet. Gotta get him well, and keep myself well!

Hang in there!! Good idea on the mask! Fingers crossed for you to stay healthy!!

Super anxious my surgery is on December 10 and my PCP office messed up my clearance to fax to the hospital NYU who will doing the VSG. I’m sitting in the office right now. super anxious but very surprised my blood pressure was good lol. I can’t to another two weeks of liquid diet. Plus my family arrange time off to help with my daughter and me. Ugh so nervous if it gets postponed to January. Please cross your fingers that I get everthing done. Speedy recovery for the one that got surgery recently or will be having it soon.

I was so excited before now I’m getting cold feet hahaha I’m more worried about the aftermath of surgery

I have pre op on the 11th. I really have no idea what is going beside that I’ll be there all day and see internal med and my bari doctor.

11 days to go! 😬

I think it's only natural to be a little nervous! The biggest thing I'm nervous about is taking off my rings before surgery. I can't get them off!! Hoping the pre-op diet will help me lose just enough weight to make my fingers skinny! LOL!!

Welcome Ash84623!!! This site has helped me a lot. I have chosen to not tell many people about what I'm doing. My husband and mother are the only ones that know. It's good to be able to come to this site and see how I'm feeling in someone else's post. I don't feel so weird with the thoughts I have lol. I'm wrapping up day 4 of my 2 week diet. I'm done about 3-4 lbs so far. Today was a much easier day considering my husband and kids had pizza for dinner. I had a small portion of steak and raw cauliflower. I did steal some mushrooms off of my husband's pizza. Currently drinking peppermint tea to curve this head hunger.
Yes the first week was hard! I ate some of the wrong things on Thanksgiving but I have been following the rules since. 3 days left its getting so real!!

Day before my surgery during the pre admit after 1 1/2 hr with the RN going over EVERYTHING the finance guy pops in and says my insurance approvel statis is still pending and needed to cancel or fork over 40K. I ended up zipping over to the surgeon office and got a copy of the approval letter then back to the Hospital . Now sitting here in stomache pain ...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
