It's so inspiring reading all the April Babies' reports getting ready for, undergoing and coming out of surgery. My surgery was April 1st, and now I am leaving this wonderful forum, but I want to leave you all some encouragement. WLS is a huge step. It's intimidating at first. There are so many tasks, so many changes, there is so much to do. It all seems "too much" some times ("too little!" at others). You may or might not be supported. But please let me let you know something: if you do what your surgeon and NUT ask, and trust your body, this. works.

I'll leave it at this: only 10 days ago exactly to the hour I was flat on my back on an operating table under bright lights. My surgeon was bent over me with tools. So were her assistants and residents. I went under excited but worried a RNY gastric bypass might not work, that it might never stop me from eating and being so hungry. I was scared to be fat forever. I woke up in lots of pain and "retching", vomiting as my surgeon jokes with me. (She thought it was funny and keeps poking me about that, "You were really retching, throwing up in there! I saw you!") I went home. It was so hard following the pre-op diet. It's been hard following the post-op diet. But guess what.

I have lost 12 pounds since April 1, and most of all, today, this afternoon, I had my first experience with a very eerie sensation. One I have not felt since I was a little kid.

I am not. hungry. AT ALL.

My stomach is there, I can tell it is. My body exists. It feels almost "weightless". I am still me. My life is the same (although I find I don't spend as much time indoors at my computer, I want to be outdoors in the sunshine every day, to not waste a drop of sunshine - !! - and I crave movement, activity, exercise, that alone is weird and I wonder where it is coming from, this has been gone since I was a kid!) and everything, everyone around me is the same. But my underwear is almost slipping off me, my pants are real loose with lots of new wrinkles, and most of all, I am just that. Simply not hungry. There is no. hunger. AT ALL. I can't imagine eating. If I was to try to, my stomach and my body responds, "Why?"

That for me is enough. You want this surgery. You need this surgery. Believe in this surgery. It works. Thank you to my beautiful surgeon and her entire team You all saved my life. Beautiful Day Monster is free.

Thank you for all your support Monster!! Wishing you the best as you continue your recovery. Love all your honesty and positivity!! Please pop in from time to time, let us know how you’re doing!! ?
Yes best wishes! Fell asleep but woke up for a vitals check so I’m gonna try and have a little more protein shake and water before going back to sleep. Happy dreams everyone!
Hi all, thought I’d check in. I had a swallow test this morning at 8.40am. Was told they’d have results by 12noon and they would then let me start to sip fluids. But it’s now 4pm. I’m hoping I get to sip something soon!!!

I’m also going home tomorrow if all goes well. Feel a bit nervous about whether they’ll be anything wrong or just difficult about sipping fluid, will it hurt my stomach.

A little bit tender where the incisions are. My drain is still in.

Much love to all, I hope everyone is ok.

I think I’m feeling a bit sad waiting.

I am ok though.
It will hurt to drink a lot if you’re like me. The thing is to try different temperatures. Hot and room didn’t go well for me, but really cold helped. It’s also important to not get a lot of air when drinking. Something I’m having a problem with since I am a fast drinker. As time passes and you keep making yourself drink it will get better. Me personally I’m looking forward to eating real food in 6 weeks. I hope you heal fast and drinking won’t hurt you that much. Best of luck
Yikes, well the water test is here.

30mls in the first hour.

60mls in the 2nd hour.

90mls in the 3rd hour.

If all goes well they will give me the clear liquid dinner.

So I hope it’s all ok. ?
Fluids all gone down ok. I can’t believe how quickly all these steps/milestones keep coming! I can’t wait to get losing some weight!
Hi, newbie here.

When is surgery? April 26
What kind? Sleeve
Height? 5’8”
Starting Weight? 274
Goal? 160? (Not too sure, just want to be healthy!)

Sending out good vibes for all up coming surgeries and those recovering.

Had my RNY on Monday, seem to be doing ok. I didn't meet my protein goals yesterday but I think I got enough fluids in. Took all my vitamins. The calcium chews aren't great but I think I can manage. I was also able to have a small BM this morning which was a relief. I took a suppository last night and not much happened but the surgeon has me on two senokot at night since the day after surgery to continue for a month. I started my period yesterday and man is my back feeling it today. So sore! Normally I would take ibuprophen or naproxen for period related pains but I'm stuck with Tylenol which doesn't do much lol. At least my insicions aren't really painful just tender. Yesterday I managed to get down a premier protein, strained mushroom soup with 1% milk and protein powder and about 3-4 cups of water.

Anyone who shares my date (April 4) lose weight yet? I gained 4 lbs in swelling a Fluid retention. Stupid scale. Today I’m getting plain Greek yogurt from TJs and frozen fruit to blend in. I can’t stand the low calorie, pre mixed fruit yogurts. I thank pain meds for helping me think outside of the box!

Hi Kate just getting back to you on the weight loss. I lost 5.6 pounds. I hope you're doing good and are getting rid of some of that fluid retention.

It’ll happen! I’m down 13# already since Monday. You got this!!! The little changes are noticeable right away, I haven’t had any edema since surgery day. Woohoo!! Each day the drinking gets a bit easier. You’re doing great....keep it up!!! ❤️
